VATSIM broken voices

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I have been flying for months on vatsim but I have never experienced something like this until a few months ago. Right after I connected to VATSIM via vPilot I was able to hear and transmit voice and it was clear, but after a while quality went from good to trash. It's unplayable because you can barely understand ATC and so he can understand me.  It's unplayable because you can barely understand ATC. Here is a video: (34) broken voices - YouTubeI have 50 Mbits download and 23 Mbits upload. I think that should be enough to play on vatsim. Do you have a solution?

@aviationhasan, you have not posted in the right forum. Please say what simulator you're using and I'll move your post.

I not sure, but this might have something to do with the servers? Yesterday, I was flying and suddently the controller reported that I was unreadable since the transmission was static. I relogged in nothing change. Only when I changed to a different server he was able to read me again.

What is weird to me with vpilot: sometimes I am on a center station and suddently I hear radio transmissions from another tower station from an airport somewhere. Another issue is, that vpilot doesn't block when many pilots transmit at the same time. Often I have the feeling the controller doesn't even hear what I have transmitted.

Nevertheless, I don't hate it, because it's a challenge and in real world you'll often find issue with radio transmission, so maybe the developers did it on purpose to add realism 😄

Yeah, the problem is I've been experiencing this for months and I always can't read them after a while.

Try different server when it happens.

You have a much better chance of resolution by asking in the forum below.  Numerous hours online here and I have not experienced your issue.  Good luck !

Funny, I logged into Vatsim for the first time last night just observing at KLAX, and my first thought when I heard a few transmissions was that the clarity was very impressive! The voices were crystal clear. As good as any platform I’ve been on. (Discord, PilotEdge, etc)

Thanks for your help. I think I've found the problem. My CPU isn't the best (i5-9400F) and it sometimes gets to 100% usage. Everytime it gets too 100% the crackling noises appear. I think I'll just have to buy a new CPU. Happy new year! 😄
