February 2, 20233 yr Moderator I’m starting a new topic for those who wish to discuss the DCD Concorde. This post may help those unfamiliar with the takeoff and departure procedure. And this for the decel / descent procedure. Ray (Cheshire, England). February 2, 20233 yr I wish someone would make an INS. But coding that I would think would involve a different skillset than programming other systems. Maybe we can coax Ernie Alston into doing it. Or Working Title. We have other forms of navigation fairly well locked down, the only major gap would be INS. Or possibly realistic TACAN, but that is of lesser importance in my view, to a real CIVA-style INS, which was in wide use in the late 60's and through the 70's and into the 80's in many aircraft. There is a CIVA INS for P3D v4 which shipped with the JustFlight (Michael Cependa) DC-8-50, but I'm unsure if the INS works in v5. But I would think from a mathematical standpoint the code is there. In my opinion there is nothing more satisfying in flight sim than using INS to cross an ocean, where you navigate yourself to within miles of your destination...that's called "success", my friends. Maybe dead reckoning / celestial is more satisfying...but you understand my point I'm sure. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

We already have a working INS in the CJ Simulations Typhoon, and managed to make it happen without WASM. The next major update should have it. Just unsure of how to implement it - as a separate Concorde within the package, or somehow within the same model as the FMC version, which will remain for those who wish to use it.
February 3, 20233 yr Great to hear this. That will be a great addition and I like that users will be able to choose what option they want. Keep up the great work.
February 3, 20233 yr A few other questions for @DC1973 do you plan to add a digital display for the MACH speed? Also, I believe in Concorde you had an arrow in the air speed indicator showing the maximum allowed speed at a certain stage of the flight. Lastly, will we get markers to define V1, VR, etc. in the speed indicator?

Barber pole is in the IAS indicator - it's a simple one at this time but effective enough to prevent crucial overspeeds. Drag markers will also be added, less vital though to the general user as Concorde's flight model allows a little bit of leeway for the uninitiated. Edited February 3, 20233 yr by DC1973
February 3, 20233 yr Author Moderator I think @nomad71 might be referring to the Marilake cabin display. Ray (Cheshire, England). February 3, 20233 yr Thanks to both. I was referring to the cockpit indicator. I will buy the plane this weekend 🙂
February 3, 20233 yr @DC1973 Would it be possible to model some nicer cabin windows, lets say the way Asobo did on there planes ? Lets say two ( or three ) on each side ? ( shure not all of them ) With longer flights i like to sit as a passenger near the windows looking out the plane but the cabin windows are realy out of date, looking like FSX windows not as MSFS 2020 cabin windows, that would realy be great !! And would such windows also be possible on the wing area ? For me a modeled cabin and passengers would not be so important but a few well-modeled (Asobo style) cabin windows, mutch more effective IMO. 👍 cheers 😉 08.2024 new PC is online : ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI Mainboard, AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D Prozessor, G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC Grafikkarte, 2x WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD 4 TB - Drive C+D, WD Gold Enterprise Class 12 TB for storage HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W PC - Power supply, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO CPU Aircooler with 7 Heatpipes, Design Meshify 2 White TG Clear Tint Tower-Case, 3x 4K monitors 2x32 Samsung 1x27 LG 3840x2160, Windows11 Prof. 23H2 - now Windows11 Prof. 25H2 Flightsimulator Hardware: Honeycomb Throttle Bravo, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Logitech Flight Joke System, XBox Controller, some Thrustmaster stuff, Winwing CDU Panels.
February 3, 20233 yr @DC1973 so with the current fuel transfer limitations that were mentioned in the other thread since SU9 how flyable is the plane in it's current state? If I were to purchase it could I do a full trans-Atlantic flight for example? With my 4090 coming and DLSS in MSFS I'd love to experience the V-Speeds of the Concorde at 120FPS to really get the feel of the speeds she commands... Just wondering what the actual current flyability is even with the limitations. Thank you in advance! Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
February 3, 20233 yr Commercial Member There are no current limitations in Concorde's flight performance, other than any bugs that MSFS routinely causes from time to time in any aircraft. We do routinely monitor bug reports of course, but somedays folks see a bug and the next day it's gone again. Seems just to be sim instability rather than anything else - generally Concorde is working fine and I see them crossing the Atlantic every day when testing other airplanes when multiplayer is switched on. Concorde will perform all of the flights that the real Concorde could perform, in much the same way, as long as it's flown correctly. Although not study-level, balancing fuel CoG and other duties are required on longer flights to make sure you get all the way to JFK, for instance, with enough fuel to land. Air temperatures will affect the flight, and Concorde is usually somewhere below Mach 2 for most of the time despite what folks think ( Concorde was below Mach 2 most of the time in real life ). Mach 1.97 is the most often Mach number I see over the Atlantic. Super-cruise, timed descents, correct landing airspeeds and attitudes are all in place. All that Concorde really needs is the addition of an INS and a hefty chunk of work on my part to bring the textures and modeling up-to-date. That's all just starting at the moment, so it will be a while before the work is done and available. I'm keen to get on with it though, Concorde's done tremendously well in sales and is very popular, so it's time now to bring it up to a new level.
