Are you able to handle the Flyinside Bell 206

Featured Replies

I am beginning to feel so so so stupid that I can't get the FlyInside Bell 206 to survive an engine failure / shutdown 😞

None of my sim autorotation techniques appears to make it work, at least to the level of the one in the bellow video....

I do not own the Cowansim version, which is based on the native MFS rotary wing flight dynamics, but I believe I would probably be able to do it there because I can successfully autorotate and land both the Cabri and the Bell 207 in MFS.

Perfectly manageable on my side,  very happy with all the improvements that have been made in all areas including flight dynamics.

Since CowanSim 206 uses the same flight dynamics as MSFS2020, perhaps this option of the B206 is better suited to your skills and needs. A very recommended option, aswell.

Could you record a video of an autorotation in the FlyInside Bell 206 please ?

Autorotations takes alot of practice and timing to do right.

While the video is cool, it is not a way anyone sane would do in real life, and You don´t know how many attempts the guy did before succeeding.

MonoStripeZebra is an exceptionally experienced and skilled simmer with a background in other sims including IL-2.  He and I were flying online yesterday in the FI Bell 206 and he was holding formation like a pro as we toured around 3 different airfields (you'll see that in another vid on his YT channel that shows effects being mimicked between the two helos).   I wouldn't feel bad at all if I couldn't do what he does (and I can't).

The hot start and engine failure of the FI 206 is very annoying and what's odd is that it worked fine for me until I adjusted some settings, now I get a hot start failure every time no matter how careful I am even after putting the settings back to where they were originally.  I suspect something is amiss with their logic.  I've been practicing autorotations with the CowanSim MD500 so I can make a video per request of some folks, so challenge accepted for doing the same with this bird.  My autorotations are far more timid and straightforward, no landing on postage stamps for me. 🙂

I never had any problems with autorotations in DCS World or most helicopters for X-Plane 11 and 12.

Actually the default MFS SU11 helicopters, Cabri and Bell 407 are both easy to get into autorotation for training, but the FlyInside Bell 206 is a true nightmare 😕

Well I'm no pro at autorotations and my first practice session with this bird today was a bit rough, but if nothing else it got recorded as what might be the very first formation autorotation (MonoStripZebra was recording from his outside and cockpit perspective, I was in the helo flying behind in level flight and in front during the autorotation approach and "landing" if we can call it that).

Throttling back at 1500' altitude, dumping the collective and establishing a glide at ~70 knots and 2000fpm descent was pretty straightforward.  Just have to work on my flare and timing.  MonoStripeZebra is indeed much more polished at it.
