February 15, 20233 yr Hi all As of late, after creating a flight plan with simbrief, then after using the simbrief down loader, I have opened that flight plan in Navigraph charts. However on a few occasions now, I have a discrepancy in the allocated runways for the flight. Navigraph disagrees with Simbriefs selection by showing the selected runway as a green and orange, rather than a double green. I read the weather before the flight planning phase. and sometimes simbrief still allocates an incorrect departure runway. I think Navigraph is generally correct. Why does Simbrief do this? The last question is in regards to the gate number data bases at airports. If you go to MSFS 2020, Navigraph charts or PRO-ATC-SR all their gate number data bases are different. Would it be hard to have a centralised system. Also in MSFS2020 the numerical order of the gate numbers are chaos. Surely they could be arranged in numerical order or something to make them easier to find. Any sugestions. Regards Paul Hursey
February 15, 20233 yr 1, It doesn't really matter. ATC will often give you a different runway and SID to what SimBrief suggests, especially at large airports with many runways and so you will need to change it anyway. It takes 5 seconds in Navigraph to select what ATC want or to what winds demand. 2. Really does matter. Drives me mental and is something that really does need a solution. I have found that if you have Airports on in the map options and zoom into the airport without any chart overlay then the gate allocations are more correct and may be coming from the sim. There are often loads missing though and can be difficult to read because you can't quite zoom in enough. You can change the size of that info in the options but it then messes up how everything is presented. If you overlay the chart the parking numbers are nothing to do with what are in the sim and are real life numbers and so more often than not are useless. Unless you are using a payware airport with correct data, I think. I'm hoping that when Asobo add the feature where users can edit airports and submit them to share we will start to see parking allocations begin to get better. 5800X3D - Strix X570-E - 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 - AMD RX 9070 XT- Samsung 980 Pro x2
February 15, 20233 yr Different wind direction in the two apps is the obvious reason why different runaways would be allocated. Are you updating the weather data in Simbrief just before you finalise the flight and send the flight out to the Downloader? This would also affect fuel load calculations if winds aloft are drastically different. As far as I can see, Simbrief only directly retrieves Active Sky weather snapshots. Active Sky doesn't work in MSFS of course, but luckily I still have it installed from P3D and the weather's the weather, so provided all sources are up-to-date, they ought to be the same. There is an option to upload your own weather snapshot into SimBrief but I have no idea where you'd get them from or what the format is.

February 15, 20233 yr On the Edit Flight page, always make sure you have the Departure Date and Time set to the time you intend to start the flight. I presume, although I don't know for sure, that Simbrief loads a weather snapshot for that date & time from somewhere that is consistent with that departure time. Further down the page, you'll see the Historical Weather section. It tells you the date and time of the weather snapshot you have loaded. Push the Weather Options button on the right and you'll see three options. One is Update - Upload a New Weather Snapshot. That tries to download weather from Active Sky. I use this to make sure I have the correct weather loaded. If you don't have Active Sky, the Upload option doesn't work. It doesn't seem to be explained in the manual but it's clear those to two sets of date & time should be the same. That may mean that you have to create the Simbrief flight close to the time you intend to .actually fly the route. So I can tell you what to do if you have ActiveSky, which many ex P3D users will, but not if you don't.
February 15, 20233 yr Thanks. Will that then generate what SimBrief thinks are the active runways based off the weather?
February 16, 20233 yr It must do - the only issue then is variable or very low wind speeds when you may find by the time you get to take off other traffic is coming the other way!
