Buying from MSFS Marketplace

Featured Replies

If I try to buy something from the Marketplace, I get: "The Xbox live account used to log into MSFS and the Microsoft Store do not match...etc."

Maddening!! I don't have an Xbox live account. I bought MSFS from the Microsoft Store using my MS account. Ive seen this online before but none of the "fixes" work for me.

Do MS not want my money?

I had similar problems early on in MSFS with the Marketplace.

I resolved them by opening the XBox app and the MS Store app, logging out of both, logging back into both (same account), then launching MSFS.

Other thing to note is that currently, the MSFS Marketplace will not allow purchases if you've launched MSFS with administrator rights.

Although (since updates were moved away from the Xbox app), I never find I have to launch the Xbox app anymore, I always still launch the MSFS Store app before launching MSFS (not as Admin), and can then always make purchases.

Good luck!

you need the xbox live app for msfs to work properly, has nothing to do with the console, the naming is confusing yes.

wim123: you need the xbox live app for msfs to work properly, has nothing to do with the console, the naming is confusing yes.

me: Yes, Jonmal does have an Xbox account. Everybody who is running MSFS has one.

Let's say that you click on your name icon that you see displayed in the upper right hand corner of MSFS, and log  out.  And then use a different name or password to log back in (because your following the prompts for 'forgot your password), then you're now logged on to a different account. And if you now buy anything in the marketplace, then it is not associated with your former proper account.

Restarting xbox and the MS store is a way of synchronizing everything to be associated with the same account. It's sort of a fraud protection scheme that MS uses to make sure that you are the proper owner of the things that have been purchased from them.
