Imagine what would have happened to SpaceX if Elon Musk had done the same? Branson has gone a bit quiet of late, less hands on with this stuff. His health seems okay, but I guess at 72 he fancies calming down a bit and being less hands on. Others have speculated as to why he's conspicuous by his absence. Elon of course, regarding SpaceX, after several Falcon failures, sunk everything he had into one last Falcon launch. There was zero money left for another try. And of course, that last attempt was successful. Musk would have sold all his houses, and slept in the factory, like he did for the Model 3. 😏 Richards too busy sunbathing on his island. 😄 Don't blame him. Pity, Virgin Orbit could have been very successful, there were plenty of customers lined up. But no, a fuel filter was allowed to compromise the whole shebang. We have seen a rescue at the last minute before, so who knows. They are trying to find a buyer apparently. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-65172594 Edited April 4, 20233 yr by martin-w
April 12, 20233 yr Bankruptcy? What Bankruptcy? Virgin Orbit new launch prep. This was "reorganization bankruptcy". Operations division still active and engine being fitted to latest rocket. If they pull it off, it increases the chances of being sold to new company.
April 12, 20233 yr Commercial Member There's perfectly good shareholder capital that hasn't been p***d through yet! Horizontal launch is finished, except maybe for launches right on the equator. I don't think continental drift will help Cornwall in that regard any time soon. Cheers! Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

Then we have companies in development, like Astrius, (launching its first rocket next year) which will be based in Prestwick, and then we have Orbit Boy. There is the NASA system too of course, but I think that's on hold for the moment. Edited April 13, 20233 yr by martin-w
