Nothing you have posted, be it your diatribe about cynicism, the wholly irrelevant video of a man feeling seasick on a ferry or the laughable, two year old PR releases ( how is that 2022 launch of Dream Chaser going ?😃 ) you quote can deflect from the basic fact that a lot of public money has been spent for absolutely no tangible benefit whatsoever. Indeed you could make the same statement about the whole Newquay airport complex. Yes, the whole space/satellite idea is all very exciting but the public money spent to try and create an industry where none existed before would have been much better put towards mundane stuff like making the main trunk route into Cornwall at least a dual carriageway along it’s whole length or ensuring the rail link to Cornwall doesn’t get washed away every other year like it does at present. This is worthwhile, tangible infrastructure investment. The Cornish Spaceport? Virgin Orbit went the way of the Dodo today. I have very little doubt the spaceport will follow shortly but it will be a quiet extinction to save red faces and reputations all round.

Not to wade too far into politics, but SLS and its previous incarnations have been in large part due to Senators wanting to ensure a steady stream of high-paying engineering jobs into their state. It wasn't nicknamed the "Senatorial Launch System" for nothing. I agree. If govt. wasn't involved, NASA could have done so much more good stuff. I have very little doubt the spaceport will follow shortly We bow to your wisdom, your superior knowledge, your inside knowledge of all that goes on at Spaceport Cornwall, no doubt gleaned from your personal meetings with Mell, and above all else, your ability to predict the future. Thanks for sharing it with us. And oh yes, I'll let Mell and Sierra Nevada know that the Dream Chaser thing isn't going to happen, because you said so, they will want to know that. It's a fine service you provide. Edited April 3, 20233 yr by martin-w

To sum up; they've got a plastic rocket and their next launch is a sustainability steering group. When she said "meeting our net zero goals" I totally changed my outlook on this whole venture. April 4, 20233 yr It is a shame that Richard Branson is not interested in funding Virgin Orbit any further. Imagine what would have happened to SpaceX if Elon Musk had done the same? What I meant is that if politicians, with their ignorance and selfish interests, weren't involved, NASA could have accomplished a lot more.
