Cessna Citations for P3Dv5?

Featured Replies

I've been looking around trying to find any better Cessna Citations than the ones made by Carenado and I haven't found anything.  Overall I do like flying the Carenado Citations but the systems are a bit lacking and they are often buggy, especially the navigation systems.  Does anyone know if there's anything else out that's P3Dv5 compatible that is better?

I know, it is not a Citation , but the Flysimware Learjet35a (possibly with FMS extension) is certainly one of the best implemented Buisnesjets for P3Dv5 !

By the way, simmarket is currently offering a 50% discount - so get it fast :-)

I do own the Flysimware Learjet and I think your right, it is one of the best business jets for P3Dv5 that I've been able to find.  I absolutely love flying that airplane, it looks nice and the flight model feels very realistic.  It took me at least a few flights to get the hang of hand flying that plane.  I did notice the sale and I am going to pick up the Falcon 50 and the FMS add-on for the Learjet as well.  I really hope Flysimware makes some more business jets in the future.  I also bought the Antonov 225 from FlyFreeSTD which looks like an awesome airplane as well 😃

I’ve been happy with the Lear 25 from Xtreme Prototypes for 5 years. Really nice aircraft with a ceiling of FL450 and max speed of Mach 0.82.

Wow that plane looks amazing, thanks for sharing.  That one is definitely going to pick up that plane.  I've always been a fan of Learjet aircraft ever since I flew the default FSX Lear 45 back in the day.

I have a question regarding the Flysimware aircraft maybe someone here can answer.  For their Learjet and Falcon they recommend using weather rader add-ons from Flight 1 or Milviz, neither of which I can find for sale anywhere.  Where can I find a radar add-on that will work with those aircraft?

Milviz gave up with the Wx radar when v5.2 came out. They said they couldn’t fix it. Hmmm.

But a clever enthusiast managed to get his version working. Whilst I haven’t been able to integrate it into the placeholder in the Lear it works perfectly in a popup window. I include my settings further in this topic.

So I have replaced the milviz radar in all my planes with the 'rolasnradar' in VC !
This works flawlessly in p3dv5.3 ... also in the Learjet from Flysimware !

Of the two the FSW is better systems wise, the XP looks slightly better. Flew v2 of the XP one twice, then went back to the FSW version...

Edit: for decent Citations/Modern business jets you would need to change sim depending on what aircraft you want....

I took a look at the images on the website. Less visually appealing than the XP but with it being more modern it probably has a full autothrottle. The XP one works but is less sophisticated than Boeings etc.

I tend to stick with what I have but were a business jet with a G1000 panel to come onto the market I'd be very interested. Sadly, with so many switching to MSFS that seems unlikely.

From the pictures on the website, the XP Learjet has a lot better looking VC than the Flysimware Learjet.  About the only thing I don't like about the Flysimware plane is that it looks like a lot of the gauges, other instruments and stuff are done in either 2D or 2.5D instead of 3D and I am disappointed about that, especially considering the price (when not on sale) of the plane, I would expect at least some 3D gauges and I notice the pics I've seen of the Falcon 50, the VC looks very similar in design as well.  The XP plane looks like all 3D gauges to me and they look great in the pics.  Both planes are Reality XP compatible which is nice because I use that.

Thanks you guys for the info regarding WX radar add-ons, I'll give those a try.

No Autothrottle - the XP one uses the default autopilot though, whereas FSW has it's own so IAS/Mach hold for climbing actually works properly. Visually I'd agree though the XP one is nicer...

Eaglesoft have said that their XLS+ (obviously PL21 as opposed to G1000) will come to P3D(64), although there's no point "waiting" for them. Tried their 32 bit version and it was far to buggy for me..... plus MindStar data .. ..

This reminded me to search for the last thread they posted and it was back in August of 2022 that they announced they were in "beta testing." lol. I really don't get what their whole deal is.

They definitely don't rush things out, if that meant it was the most complete or bug free addon available then great, but in my experience it wasn't.

Given the cost there are better options available for other sims, unfortunately I doubt they'll be any other options emerging for p3d in the foreseeable..
