But no guarantees right?

Its the FAA's job to ensure SpaceX have complied with all safety requirements. If that's done, there's no reason to think another issue with dust and concrete projectiles might happen again.

100% guarantees are not possible in any walk of life. There's no 100% guarantee that a 747 won't crash on your head today, or the building you are in won't collapse. But what we can do is ensure we have done our best to mitigate such things, and that's what the FAA and SpaceX are doing at this very moment.

If you believe 100% guarantees are required then quite frankly we would all still be living in caves and none of us would move from our armchairs.

Like a 12 year old Noel making a bomb out of fire crackers and setting it off in the middle of the street and never thinking a car might drive over it as it explodes.

I think you'll find that they are a bit more supplicated than that.

I would have thought Elon Musk had some responsibility here.  Must be nice to have someone else to shift the blame to when things go wrong.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

Huh... of course SpaceX had responsibility for what happened. And they are endeavoring to make sure it doesn't happen again. But its the FAA that are tasked with carrying out a safety assessment and granting a license for an orbital flight, that's what they do, that's their role, and that's exactly what they will do for the next launch. Nobody is shifting blame to anyone.

SpaceX were guilty of miscalculating the strength of Fondag. the FAA investigation will look closely at the issue, and why there was a mishap and grant a new launch license when they are satisfied. Hence, we can then be satisfied that a repeat of the issues with the last launch has been dealt with.

Putting aside the "I hate Elon no matter what he does" mindset would enable a more balanced outlook.
