Home Cockpit Views?

Featured Replies

Hello, I'm VERY new to XPlane, switching from being an FSX user for many years. I have a home cockpit with full instrument panel. I want to turn off the interior of the plane, but maintain the exterior, from the glass of the windows to everything outside, including nose, propeller, wings, pylons, etc. Can someone point me to a thread that covers this, or give me some guidance?

Thanks!

Dave

Exactly! Which option is that? Is it set on the Graphics/Monitors page? Or something else?

thanks!

graphics page has monitor configuration (scroll down), you can configure each monitors pan/rotation (windows and mac)

linux is a bit trickier

I'm one of those who "figured it out" - two weeks before switching to VR and never using it again.....

OK, so that link is actually new to me, makes linux much easier... (offensive initials not allowed did no one tell me....)

anyway

click the + next to visual offsets

that will let you rotate the view, there's a few settings there which should allow you to line the display up with where it is physically.

Be aware tho that isn't quite ready in XP12 yet, and I have no idea how he did this::

I’m specifically looking for the setting that hides the interior of the cockpit, but shows the plane outside the windows.

I "think" the way that was achieved was by lining up the displays with the actual windows, so not hidden as much as not visible on the display.

XPlane also has a "master/slave visuals" thingymob which gives more control on how/where a display is (and the commercial version has a whole load of additional options for using projectors, which I don't know much/anything about). thats configured with networking and multiple XP copies.

in the same directory as xplane there is a program called planemaker, that will let you hide various objects, you can also comment out parts in the obj files themselves if you dont want them visible (e.g. chairs).

that will depend very much on how your cockpit is setup - and for what plane.

Id reiterate to go VR - better experience and much less hassle, get that configured and you can use all your physical controls anyway.

Hi,

What aircraft? I did this with the Zibo Mod 738. Keep in mind if you do this, you'll have dry areas where the flight deck posts would be. It requires editing a few files in XP, so it depends on how comfortable you are in altering these files.

Zibo mod, with the flight deck removed. Except wipers and glass, you can see thre dry spots where the posts would be before they were fixed.

I'm strictly GA Aircraft, So I want to see the nose, prop, wings, and wing pilons (on a Cessna), glass effects like rain would be awesome.

How many monitors?

I have 3 for the front view on a triplehead2go,  and 1 on each door. So, 5 total, but 3 views. I'd share an image of my cockpit, but I don't know how to do that.

Let me take a look at the default Cessna. Are you using XP12 or 11?
