May 9, 20233 yr Excellent comparison by Alexis ( @Alec) 🙂 X-Plane Weather Comparison 2 - XP12 vs xEnviro 1.22. Big Issue shows up - YouTube Now, given the rather promising announcements by the LR team regarding new weather depiction for 12.06 / .07, I look fwd for yet another careful / detailed comparison by Alexis!  Edited May 9, 20233 yr by jcomm Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
May 9, 20233 yr This only goes to show what we have been saying all along. Getting a good weather system take sometime to get right and I believe that LR is well on its way to getting there. But just wanting good looking clouds while we all desire that, is meaningless if there is nothing behind it when comes to the effect on weather. The video just proves that point in the xEnviro segment with cloud layer being thinner than expected in the an area of significant weather and jumps during the transition. Also it will have some dependency on the SDK once LR has it all defined once they are done with the weather system. So for 3P, unless they completely replace it, it will take sometime for them as well, so we will just have to be patient. The good news is what we receive from LR on the upcoming updates with those improvements, just around the corner.  Edited May 9, 20233 yr by BobFS88

Very much so. Although clouds in ‘the other sim’ have suffered post SU7 visually, something they still do very well is show rain from individual clouds, correctly directed by local wind. Having to maneuver on the horizontal as well as vertical plane because of clouds is another, nice, dimension to the clouds and their role in the immersion beyond simply looking realistic. Hopefully XP can incorporate this at some point (if they haven’t already?). i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

May 12, 20233 yr My FPs doesn't go above 19 with XEnviro active, so it doesn't matter what it looks like for me! With default weather or ASXP my sim is smooth. In showery weather I can look in different conditions and can see individual showers with rain reaching the ground. However, the effect is nowhere near as good as MSFS.
