Sometimes it is so frustrating and annoying

My PC/Win 11/MSFS have been cooperating and working darn near perfectly for a while now.  I see a steady 30fps in all but heavy city flying, e.g. San Diego, LA, Seattle.  I have lots of wonderful addons that greatly enhance the experience.  VR is even working smoothly now.  Using Map Enhancement makes flying over the Sierra Nevada at 2000' AGL a treat for the eyes.

And... then Frozen Screen and eventually CTD - after several dozen hours flying almost identical routes and equipment.  Nothing new but a CTD!

I had been flying along at 16,000' in the C414aw running along the highest ridgelines of the Sierra - had been up there for over an hour just enjoying the fluffy clouds, light turbulence, and great scenery.

All eight cores were chugging along at 40% - 75% busy at 65°C, 19 of 32 GB memory was committed, the RTX 3060 ti was running at 70% to 90% busy at 73°C.  Nothing changed - I did not switch views, I did not suddenly fly into new tiles but got the Frozen Screen and CTD anyway.

I know this sim is getting big and complicated and I think it darn near wonderful... most of the time.  But, then CTD and my day is ruined.

I sure hope the promised new sim can address this problem.   Smoothly running system for hours, no system or sim changes and CRASH!

Just my whinny venting,

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D  / MSI X870 Tomahawk Mobo / 64 GB DDR5 memory / RTX 4070 Super with 12 GB VRAM / AORUS FO48U 4k display
NVMe for Drive C, an NVMe device dedicated to Flight Sim 2024 and a separate NVMe device for Flight Sim 2020 and an NVMe dedicated to 500GB of addons managed by AddonsLinker   / 1 GB Comcast Xfinity Internet connection / HP Reverb G2 / Tobii 5 Head & Eye Tracking

Yup, it happens.. and Asobo claims that they are actively reading through crash reports and fixing code..

Lets hope it gets better over time!  FS2024 is not the solution.. dogged development / bug fixing is.. 😉

Just my whinny venting,

I posted late last week about this.  I suddenly had (3) CTD's on consecutive flights after experiencing none since 1/19/2022.  Well over a year.  No updates or new addons, but perhaps some little used scenery loaded for the flights (use Addons Linker).  Several days with 7 flights of 14 logged hours with no additional CTD's but had another today at the end of a flight of just over 4 hours.  My longest single flight time so far in MSFS, and in today's flight I did a good deal of fiddling "under the hood", and was rewarded for that effort! 😓
