P3D V5 Won't Start Up

Featured Replies

Hello,

I just bought P3D v5, the latest version; I downloaded and installed it fine. It loads up fine to the start-up screen until I start a scenario where it's stuck at 0% "Loading scenery objects." It's a fresh install thus no addons or anything. Any ideas? I have P3D 4.5 installed, and it worked fine for me. I have an i9-9900k GTX 1070 Founders Edition.

I deleted scenery config and nothing. Its interesting to note, that when I load up P3D 4.5 and quit it and then load P3D V5 it works. But if I quit P3D v5 the problem goes back, makes no sense to me.

Help

Quick test:

Reboot PC after each flight.

Best Regards,

@captainsmith123456, rename your Prepar3D.cfg file and start P3Dv5 again. It’s possible there’s a corruption in an entry in the existing cfg.

v4 and v5 are completely independent. One cannot influence the other.

Where have you installed v5 to? If Program Files have you excluded that folder from Defender anti-virus checks?

Did you install with Admin Privileges?

Are you launching v5 with admin privileges?

Check in Task Manager or with a utility like Process Lasso and make sure you don't have Prepar3D still running in the background...it sounds to me like v5 is not shutting down all the way and you're trying to run more than one instance.  I had an issue with that a long time back, and to make things worse, Windows was automatically reloading it into the background when I restarted Windows.

Since you're just getting started with it, I'd uninstall it completely and then delete all the generated files to get rid of any and all config data, and then try again.

Also, make sure you're not installing to the default location in Program Files.

Last, if you're using a profile in nVidia Control Panel or with a utility like nvidiainspector, be aware that both P3Dv4 and v5 use executables with the same name (prepar3d.exe), so you could have an issue with a video profile that's automatically being applied but which may not be compatible with P3Dv5 and DX12.

I installed my v5 to my 😧 drive same as my P3D v4.5 which works fine. Antivirus were turned off and yes I am launching it with admin privileges, no luck.

Made sure that its not running more instances in tasks manager and I reinstalled v5 and no luck, still the same problem with it being stuck at "0%"

I am not sure the case is and I know P3D v4.5 and V5 is two different application but I just loaded P3D v4 into an airport then quit and then run V5 and it works, it loads me into an airport. But if I quit V5 and run it again, the problem continues

I’m not aware v4 and v5 share any files. Just coincidental surely.

Assuming you had no issues when downloading the install file there doesn’t seem any point in running the checksum procedure.

Given the problem is with scenery try uninstalling that element and download the scenery.msi from your account. Install it and see if that helps.

Ya probably, but I uninstalled scenery and reinstalled .msi and still has the same problem.

Have you cleared the shader cache of both v4 and v5? Once done, start v5. Don’t touch v4.

Where is the shader cache located?
