July 15, 20232 yr I have an i9 10900k paired with a 2080Ti today, the combination works quite well in MSFS, I run in 3440x1440 with everything on Ultra except T-Lod at 150 and clouds at high. I have received an offer to buy a 3080Ti at a good price and wondering if that card will make any difference? from what I understand, my Cpu will become a bottleneck in the system, and then maybe it's not a good idea to upgrade after all? July 15, 20232 yr I run MSFS on a 10900K with a 4090, and before that a 3090--I wouldn't consider a 3080Ti a mismatch or overkill for that CPU. The only reservation I'd have is missing out on frame generation in the 4000-series GPUs. July 16, 20232 yr A 3080Ti would pair nicely with your 10900K CPU, but you may want to look at the 4000 series cards. Be sure your power supply is up to the task of powering a newer generation Nvidia card. I'd say to look at Nvidia's power supply recommendations and add 100 to 150 watts to that recommendation to compensate for any power spike draws a new GPU may generate. July 16, 20232 yr If you use a TV instead of a monitor for display before you do anything try the TV's built in Frame Interpolation settings which will double your FPS in a similar way to 4000 series GPU's. A 3080ti is probably a better match for your 10900K than the 2080ti. July 16, 20232 yr Author I ordered a 4070Ti instead, it feels a bit more future-proof, and I intend to update CPU, motherboard and Ram next year for MSFS 2024.
