FBW A320NX and RNAV

Featured Replies

I'm interested in getting back into the A320 and this was the big missing piece for me back when I was flying it originally.

Does anyone know the current status of this capability on the FBW A320NX?  I mean the ability for the aircraft to fly an RNAV approach to the threshold.

Thanks.

As stated by FBW, the Experimental option is gone. Stable and Development are all that remain and the Development package has full VNAV capability, including TOD calculation and notification for both ILS and RNAV approaches.
That’s my take at least,

Edit:  I see from another poster I may be incorrect concerning RNAV capabilities. The easiest way to confirm is check it out for yourself. The plane is free and a cinch to install. Enjoy.

RNAV is still INOP in the FBW, as far as I know. This doesn't mean you can't fly RNAV approaches, if you follow the altitude restrictions on the charts, but you will not get (I think?) the "Final App" annunciation in the FMA.
They keep pushing updates however and I wouldn't be surprised if the latest one (haven't tested it yet) includes full RNAV capability.

Cheers!

Does anyone that uses the FBW A320 development version, know if RNAV APPROACHES are operational yet?? In other words, altitudes constrictions and speed, etc?

Not in any version available to the public. If you check the github for the fmsv2 status, RNAV approach has been implemented, but that hasn't made it's way into any version available to the public. I'm hoping it will make an appearance in the development build in a few months.

Nope. 10/3/24. Even in Dev version. FPA is a hack. Welcome to the world of flight simulation, where dev's lose focus at 70-80% completion. They get bored or something, leave all the really complicated stuff and move on to new projects. a380 for example. They should set up Gofundme account, raise some cash,  and hire out the really complicated stuff. This industry really, really needs coding "closers". No offense to open source volunteers. They work hard for nuttin. Like I mentioned, they should just create a open source fundraising policy in situations like this.

I use FBW because of awesome Air Manager panels, otherwise I would be using Toliss 320 Neo on XP 12. Also, the Inibuilds 320 neo v2 has RNAV RNP RF capabilities, just no AM panels. Good Luck

No one has "lost focus", and FYI, the A380 project was started 4 years ago. So certainly not a new distraction to avoid working on FINAL APP. Otherwise, we'd have been distracted for a long time.

The reality is just that the person working on FINAL APP is on vacation, and that it was previously waiting for fms-v2 to be merged (which it now is).

We thank you for using our aircraft, however. Glad you enjoy it!

Not quite the case - fms-v2 is available to the public in the development version, but it was decided to merge it without FINAL APP so that the rest of the features would be available to users without delay. See my above response regarding FINAL APP itself.
