FAA does have support systems in place for people struggling, catching it early enough would make the difference, seeing as he has disclosed he had been struggling for some time and didn't come forward is very unfortunate

Except alcohol or drugs are NOT mitigating circumstance's...

Ha! You'd be surprised.  All of my forensic patients were under the influence when they murdered their mother, pregnant girlfriend or children.  Alcohol, cocaine, and/or meth were the predominate drugs.  But they were found GEI (guilty except insane) in my state and placed in the state psychiatric hospital.  🙄

I have a lot of doubts about this guy's story.  I hope they did a tox screen.

The lies are coming out already.  That friend he said died, resulting in his depression, had died 6 years earlier.

I don't know why a news story was removed.  He had told the police a friend had just died and apparently that was not true, as that friend had died 6 years ago.  I think it'll all come out, but it's a story that will fade away and we might not get all the data.  Time is not relative when you lie about your reasons for wrongdoing.
