He tried to pull the fire suppression, if he had done that the engines cannot be restarted, it was extremely fortunate that didn't happen, the flight crew must have been extremely vigilant to notice something was off and prevent that from happening

Incredibly scary, glad he did not succeed.  Question now is, why did he do it?

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

I don’t know about those Embraers but on the Boeings to pull those fire handles without an active fire warning you have to press in a separate override button simultaneously. So it becomes a fumbling two handed job, which if it’s the same on those jets may have delayed his actions just long enough to be discovered.

As I understand the systems, you can push the fire handle back in and restart the engines, but you won't have fire protection due to the bottles having been fired.

Had he succeeded (the acft was close to cruise altitude), it would have been sporty, as the jet would start to depressurize, so you'd be doing loss of cabin pressure and dual engine failure/restart procedures (and fighting off a suicidal cockpit occupant) simultaneously.

The DOJ has historically been very aggressive prosecuting interference with flight crew incidents, and the federal sentencing guidelines are quite harsh.  Other monsters who have attempted bringing down passenger-laden jets...e.g. Richard Reid (the "Shoe Bomber") and Umar Abdulmuttalab (the "Underwear bomber")...are now serving life-without-parole sentences at Supermax--a special US Bureau of Prisons hell on earth designed especially to deal with the kind of evil embodied in a would-be mass killer.

I just saw a news report he was on a hallucinogenic (psilocybin) at the time, that would explain him not being aggressive and his lapse of judgement, not sure how someone can get into a flight deck in that state of mind. Yep a severe lapse of judgement could lead to a life in prison

At the very least when he is released from prison, hope he is on the "No Fly List"....

Very true. In my opinion it started when Alcock and Brown crash landed in that bog in Galway....

Sadly, I must agree.

He just pleaded not guilty.  I suppose his lawyer will be going for the "temporary insanity" plea!  Eating Magic Mushrooms and going 40 hours without sleep!  😲
