October 31, 20232 yr Hi, I am an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 and P3Dv5.4 user and I see jagged runways, trailing (and other) aircraft edges despite using high AA settings (8x) both in Nvidia control panel and P3D display settings, as you can check in screenshot. My monitor is an LG ULTRAGEAR (1920x1080@144Hz). I wonder if what is shown in screenshot is what it is meant to be, or I have missed some settings. Sotiris Stavrakis
October 31, 20232 yr Does this video help? David dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
November 1, 20232 yr Author Thanks to both of you for your response. David, I would say that the video helped improve the jagged surfaces (see screenshot), but did not make them perfectly smooth. However, there are two settings in Nvidia control panel that are greyed and showing "on" instead of "off" in the video. Those are : Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization and Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization. Don't know if I can change them. newtie, I don't quite understand your first question. Yes, it happened to all ac. Sotiris Stavrakis
November 1, 20232 yr 8x MSAA, SSAA, and/or SGSS (NCP)? I’ve found it helpful to Restore Defaults to Prepar3d.exe in NCP while troubleshooting AA. Every unnecessary change in NCP introduces another variable that’s going to affect everything/something else. SteveW has spoken to this in detail in this forum and is worth the search. Cheers, Mark
November 1, 20232 yr Author Hi Mark, In the screenshots are shown my display and NCP settings. Do you strongly recommend reset to defaults in NCP ? Sotiris Stavrakis
November 1, 20232 yr You need custom NVIDIA Control Panel settings for P3D. Your global setting has set AA to "override any application setting" and AA is set to "2x", so that's an issue. See if the control panel has program settings for P3D and apply those. If the P3D program setting for AA is set to "global", then what it is set to in the control panel, which right now is 2x, will override what you have set in P3D. The P3D AA mode in the control panel should be "application controlled", then your setting in P3D should work. Dave Simulator: P3Dv6.1 System Specs: Intel i7 13700K CPU, MSI Mag Z790 Tomahawk Motherboard, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Video Card, 3x 1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 2280 SSDs, Windows 11 Home OS My website for P3D stuff: https://sites.google.com/view/thep3dfiles/home
November 1, 20232 yr Author So, let's sum up : 1.In NCP global settings set everything to OFF or/and application controlled. 2. In NCP, all settings should be transferred to Program settings, if I understand well. Sotiris Stavrakis

The only thing I tried regarding NCP was 2xSGSS (NCP) / 2xMSAA (P3D) based on Rogen's testing and found that even with a 3080ti, in clouds, GPU temps were higher than I would like along with noisy fans. Ambient temperature in my two story house comes into play here too. I do have a 4k monitor though. Only other use for NCP for me is to limit 30fps externally, and run unlimited internally (30hz monitor) vsync on. That said, I do have some twinkling of runway lines and distant airports. I've found that the harder you look for something, the more you're going to see it. This goes for flight sims too. 😀

Other: Rebuild P3D cfg.? Clear shaders? Why 2x on AF?
November 1, 20232 yr Author Let's put it another way : NCP has two options, Global settings and Program (P3D) settings.Program settings should be the same as Global or not ? Sotiris Stavrakis
November 1, 20232 yr Global is.... Global. Prepar3D profile is specific for Prepar3D. Same thing aaaaaaaaallll the other programs/games. 13600KF - AIO - 32GB DDR4 - RTX4070 - UW1440p GSync - USB DAC - 2TB NVMe - Windows 11 Pro - Gladiator NXT EVO - 1 Gbps Fiber - MSFS 2024
November 1, 20232 yr Author OK, understood. Many thanks to aaalll for your response. Sotiris Stavrakis
