So far, I've been completely unable to successfully start a flight with AutoOrtho enabled. No issues with AO disabled though. Might be a coincidence but AO was working reliably for me on 12.0.7

EDIT: I've still not gotten AO to work but others over on the Org are reporting that AO 0.7.1 is working just fine for them with 12.0.8b1 so don't let my experience stop you from upgrading to this beta.

EDIT2: I have AO working now so you definitely should let my earlier report stop you from upgrading to this beta.

What a great improvement with the fixed wheel-inertia. Now the landings are very close to real with no sudden nose-downs 🙂

haven't read the change log yet. first flight: smooth and looks very convincing in dusk fall mood with low clouds over PNW, KORS:

screenshot3qedqx.png

but then I think I got too fast: changed from Jet to rocket with boosters and afterburners ON :

screenshot2023-11-082y1fkh.png

Look ma, no wings. out of fuel, smoothly gliding back to mother earth:

screenshot2023-11-082kgdoy.png

When I took off from KORS, there was some nice snow cover. when I was airborne, all that snow was gone, within seconds.

Still no smooth transitions of brightness as the sun goes down, instead abrupt changes as before.

bottom of cloud textures still flicker in the far distance where it meets the sea or sky.

clouds nice and fluffy, as far as my first short flight goes. overall atmospheric lighting, especially dusk and early evening are very convincing and much better than MSFS.

Engines on fire, probably operating parameters exceeded (wonder if the new engine modeling has played a role. It's possible that some aircraft might require tweaks to ensure correct behaviour, as expected for a beta).

Anyway, are you able to reproduce the situation that caused wing separation? I would like to have a closer look at what's happening.

to be honest that was a joke: I wasn't getting too fast, I crash landed on the ground and somehow that got imported into the REPLAY.

yes I can reproduce that as many times as you like: I had crashed on the ground (nice soft black smoke particle effects btw 😁), engines caught fire and then I hit REPLAY to watch how it happened. REPLAY to my surprise started with engine fire on and wings already off, even though that happened only on the ground. so obviously, to my surprise, the replay began already using the conditions as they were on the ground much later. I had expected the replay to play as it was when I was still flying with no probs a few minutes earlier.

I then tried to save the flight to be able to reproduce it, when I got this instead:

The problem with replay is it has gotten far more complex than just making a plane fly and flaps wheels and move. What info do you save what info does the replay need, what has some developer changed thats not standard, how big do you want the file size. But that wasnt included in this update.

uneven night light distribution/reflexion on default C172 surfaces:

  • fuselage and roof section much brighter than wings even though all are the same white colour and sheet metal material.
  • she comes in colours like a rainbow: color banding on cowling

xplane12b8-c172-colorooik0.jpg

  • tree line:

sitting in the VR cockpit, when l look around and change my view direction, trees on the horizon constantly disappear and grow back again immediately. struggling with LOD?

ok, thanks, got it. wasn't aware of that, because:

● XPD-14414 - Bug report “Headlights pointing to the opposite direction”.
● XPD-14403 - 180 degrees FOV can dev assert or corrupt screen.

● Fix crash when popping out and full-screening offscreen windows

"the graphics team has included two quick fixes to address pressing concerns:

The most common “totally out of VRAM” crashes have been resolved

Users should no longer experience a long pause when popping out windows"

They where minor fixes not a graphics overhaul or performance update.
