Not the new F-14

Featured Replies

Still undecided about the new F-14. Not concerned with the flight model or authenticity, and zero interest in the whole Top Gun thing, but I'll wait until people start posting external pix of the thing before I decide. I have the JF/DCD version, and unless the new one is significantly better in its external model I'll probably stick as I am. @hs118 kindly posted a pic of the cockpit textures in response to a query I posted in another forum here, and that was impressive but I have very little interest in cockpits. This sort of aircraft is a bit like the Vulcan for me, I'm kind of interested in these aircraft to be able to see them in my MSFS world, but not in the least  bit interested in the actual piloting of them. As I'd heard about the new version coming out, I took my existing one out of the hangar, blew off the cobwebs, and took it out for a spin.

All shots in the KSAN/KNKX/KAVX area. First flight was off from USN 69, Dwight D Eisenhower, which was static off KSAN (part of Superspud's carrier collection, I think)

but on the replay (when I took these shots) the wheels wouldn't come up after take off - that happens sometimes with the recorder software I use

So I gave up and started another flight, this time out of Miramar

And everything was working OK this time round so I carried on from there

Headed off out to sea, vaguely thinking about seeing if I could find any of the other carriers supposedly out there

But my LitlleNavMap screen had frozen, so I couldn't really identify anything out there and decided to just turn off to Catalina and have a look round there
