Air France DC-3 over Charles de Gaulle...at dawn...

Featured Replies

Like many folks here, I have always liked (in the SIM) the metallic airliner liveries of the past. In modern times, the composite-material made fuselages of these airplanes...ruined it all for us in this respect...๐Ÿ™‚...so, this is the price we pay for technological advancements that are sometimes contrary to the aesthetics...

Anyway, please enjoy these images, below, of the Air France DC-3, in this attractive (metallic) livery, along with its prominent and famousย Seahorse logo, that has stood as an iconic symbol of Air France since the earliest origin of the airline...

For this post, in the dawn light, I've lifted off (LFPG) Rwy 26L (westward)...please notice the rising Sun behind my a/c...for a bit of suspended utopia above and around Charles de Gaulle airport...an airport though which I've had only one transit-travel experience with Air France, but fondly recall it because that was also my onlyย ever First-Class long-haul travel (thanks to the accumulated air-miles, of course...๐Ÿ™‚...)...and the wonderful treatment and service I'd received as such...e.g., didn't think I would ever get to see fine Table Cloth linens spread for individual airline dining in the cabin etc...Oh well...memory bits that will stay with me forever...versus the Sardine-class experience that I'm quite used to...๐Ÿ™‚...

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this set of 12 pictures, from my virtual world,ย of this venerable Douglas Classic of the bygone era.

Thanks for viewing...!

Another great set of photos! I especially like the contrast in the second photo...the classic and durable DC-3 vs what appears to be a technologically advanced A380 in the background.

I haven't made the switch yet to MSFS2020 yet...your photos make it very tempting!

Wonderful shots of the iconic bird, P_7878. And flying First Class, even only once,ย is something to enjoy to the fullest and then remember forever. And doing this on Air France is especially superb, very close to my personal favorite airline, Singapore Airlinesย ๐Ÿ™‚ย

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

I recall you liked to do airliner repaints in the P3D world, so, if you wish to switch to the New World, you can revive that interest of yours, and pick up where you left off...๐Ÿ™‚...Cheers...!

Absolutely agree, bernd, once was all Iย wanted to experience...๐Ÿ™‚...
