Do you still buy scenery or aircraft for P3D?

Does anyone have any info on Carenado for P3D? I want to buy a bunch of airplanes but haven't seen them on sale on the Carenado website. I don't think Carenado lowered their prices which is a shame given who they're competing with.

Also, Flight1 apparently changed their refund policy but I can't access the link describing the change.

Sometimes they have some giveaway price sales. Otherwise, I would direct the money elsewhere like an A2A bird.

I waited about 18 months for Carenado to go on sale again but they didn't. The last sale was 2022 i think. If I remember right they last made a sale for FS2020 products but not for P3D products. They just don't care for P3D anymore. I recently got the S330 for the full price and i love it.

At least we got Iris, Milviz and Aeroplane Heaven to give their gems for free. Maybe you better buy your wished planes one by one than the whole bunch of planes, just in case they go on sale unexpectedly.

OS=WIN11 Home, Sim=P3D5 5.4 (P3D4 and FSX for install reasons)

I actually contacted Carenado a little over a year ago and asked if they planned on having the Christmas sale.  They answered that they decided not to do it that year.  This year is now the second year in a row that they haven't had the sale.

I used to buy about one plane a year at full price and then another one or two during the Christmas sale.

Since they have decided to get greedy, I will no longer buy any planes from them at all.

Their marketing people, or the owners themselves, obviously aren't very smart.  They've got all these P3D planes sitting on their servers, but very few buying any, so if they'd just discount them to incentivize potential buyers then at least they'd make some money on them

Well, I wouldn't say greedy, more indifferent or incompetent perhaps.

The few interactions I've had with their support have been a total waste of time.

  • 1st was an enquiry as to if the C208B Steam Gauge release included cockpit immersive sounds, they said yes and kept insisting so, but it doesn't and I ended up building my own package (it's on the AVSIM library).
  • 2nd was to get an email address changed, which they were totally unable to do and in fact Carenardo and their sister company Alebeo were the only companies (out of ~100) who were unable to update an email address.

I used to buy an occasional aircraft from them, the price being high what with the exchange rate and fees and charges, although the time when they did have a big sale I did take advantage and bought practically every aircraft I wanted.

Yes unless they have a sale I would only just buy those I really really wanted, perhaps those that have mod packs to improve the aircraft (like those below).

  • C208B Steam Gauge (has updated FM, PBR, and immersive cocpit sounds)
  • Commander 690B Turbo (has Bill's mod making it a nice plane indeed).
  • Pilatus PC12 has (many community mods and fixes including PBR)

I also like the Alabeo C421C Golden Eagle as it has a good engine mod plus a few others.

Cheers

No, it cannot be indifference or incompetence because they made a conscious, purposeful decision to not have the sale.

There is only one reason to not have a sale, and that is to make more money.

I'm all for someone getting paid for their work, but like everything in life there are limits.  A lot of their P3D planes are quite old and dated, yet they keep the prices high.

Surely then, if that being the case, it could be perceived as incompetence in the field of marketing?

Which is better, sell 10 items (that no longer have any development costs) at 100% markup or 50 at half the markup?

I know which I'd prefer.
