No approaches in FLY2High KJAX from ORBX

Featured Replies

I recently downloaded FLY2High KJAX from ORBX.  It works perfectly except there are no approaches listed on the FMS flight plan for any aircraft in MSFS2020.  I can get all the departures and arrivals just fine.   I contacted the FLY2 company and they had no suggestions.  Summary of what I've done to troubleshoot:

*  The default KJAX works fine and shows the approaches

* I removed everything from the community folder except for FLY2KJAX to ensure no conflicts - still no approaches

* Searched the MSFS folders for any other KJAX files but could not find any

* Deleted FLY2KJAX and reinstalled from ORBX - still no approaches either when downloaded to the ORBX library or directly installed into MSFS

I am sure one of you experts can give me further guidance to troubleshoot because I really like the airport.  Thanks in advance!

The MSFS navdata format has its flaws, unfortunately. It could be a difference between the runway designator in the scenery and in the MSFS navdata (has there been a recent change at KJAX?), which leads to the runways having no approaches in the FMS. This is what happened most of the times I've seen that. Maybe Fly2High has used old data for the runway numbers (they are VERY bad at precise data like that); just ask them what numbers they have set for the runways and compare with what MSFS gives you in the world map.
But to be honest I think it's not that easy, because this should have been noticed by basically anyone using the scenery. So I guess it's something else at work. You might want to look for what's wrong on your setup: Do you use Navigraph navdata? If yes, try to uninstall the navdata -> start the sim -> quit the sim -> reinstall the navdata.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Thanks for your response.  I do not use Navigraph navdata.    I am somewhat surprised no one else has reported this problem.  It of course could be something with my setup, but right now I have no issues at all with my setup including many other addons that work fine.    I suspect there might be the issue that you mentioned in the first line of your response.  I've asked the developer (FLY2) a couple of weeks ago to tell me which folders and files contain the approaches for their KJAX thinking that maybe I am missing a file, but they did not respond.  FYI... when I click on the FMS flight plan procedures page, what shows up for approaches are just VISUAL 08, VISUAL 14, etc.   Their runway numbers seem correct but maybe as you say, their runway data could be the problem.  Come Monday I will ask FLY2 about their runway data.  Would welcome anyother ideas!  Thanks much!

Exactly what @Fiorentoni said. The problem is usually that the runway designators of the scenery don’t match what’s in the approach procedures. Usually it means a scenery update is necessary if they are old, or there may be a mistake that needs to be fixed. I have the scenery in question but haven’t looked into it… I can look later today.

Really appreciate it if you get a chance to look into this.  Thanks!

I compared the data in Little NavMap with the data in the Navigraph Charts app and didn't see any discrepancies, so went into MSFS and actually I do have all procedures listed... You sure you don't have any duplicate sceneries that are messing things up for you?

That's likely the problem - I've done a search on the MSFS folder for any files with KJAX but none showed up.   Glad to hear it's not a problem with the FLY2 KJAX software (at least with yours).

Thanks for looking into it for me.  If I find the culprit I'll let you know.

  • 1 year later...

I have this problem too for both KJAX and KSAV in FS2024...both Fly2 airports.  I haven't noticed any issues with any other airports (and I own a lot of them).

I have this issue with KRFD from XWind studios. I bought it from ini and of course they’re of no help.
