Aerolíneas Argentinas A310...Santiago to Cordoba...

Featured Replies

Here is a short flight (~350 nms) I did today in South America, from Santiago International Airport (SCEL) in Chile to the airport (SACO) in the city of Cordoba in Argentina. Cordoba is Argentina's third-busiest airport, after the top two busiest airports of the country, both of which are located in the capital city of Buenos Aires.

In this flight, prior to activating FMS/NAV Mode (eastward) towards Cordoba, I've headed first slightly northeast for about 50 miles to the vicinity of Aconcagua peak (22841 ft), which is the highest summit in the Andes range and the highest mountain in the Western and Southern Hemispheres, being also the tallest peak outside of the Himalayas (so it's one to be reckoned with, for sure).

This is a complete flight finishing with a touchdown on Cordoba's ILS Rwy 19. These (default) airport sceneries in S.A. surely need to be supplemented with add-ons in the SIM (for enhanced realism). In any case, S.A. and the (formidable) Andes, though being some of the most fascinating regions on the earth, have been always neglected in our SIM until now, as far as I can recall back. Nonetheless, the Andes that I've visited here, flown with about 3,000 ft clearance above the highest elevations, looked excellent to me. The Aconcagua summit (convincingly and confidently) stood ground sticking above the (MSFS) clouds, being clearly visible to me, from afar (see my pictures shot #s 9-12). This is indeed a spectacular mountain laden with multiple glaciers, symbolizing the beauty, ruggedness and heights, that the Andes Range is famous for.

Hope you also enjoy the sighting of this Aerolíneas Argentinas A310-300, in this vibrant blue livery. I've distinct memories, from the past, of flying various a/c in the colors of this airline, especially its A330/A340s and the earlier generation B737s.

Thanks for viewing.

Great set of shots! 😉

Great shots, does she work well with the XBox ?

cheers 😉

Great shots, and she seems to lend herself really well to these older style liveries.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

That may be a short distance, but a great variety of landscape. And these mountains...

I noticed I have never looked into an A310 cockpit, it is an interesting mix of the traditional Boeing setup and the more recent Airbus ones.

Cheers, Gerold

that 310 really looks a bit like a whale I think, but nice mountain flight!

All my FSX/P3D repaints are here on Avsim, for my MSFS repaints, go to FS.2

Thanks, and you're correct, John, S.A. is great to be flying in the SIM...had really missed it in earlier SIMs, but the airports, here, need enhancement in this SIM....surely there are (scenery) add-ons for PC, but it's lacking badly for me in Xbox, Airport arrivals are FSX-like...🙂 ...maybe a future Update at least for the major S.A. airports would help...

Appreciated for viewing and commenting, Will.

It appears your Alaska Airlines 737-800 fleet is on a reduced service schedule...🙂...

Thanks, pmplayer. Sorry for the late reply...Regarding the A310 on Xbox, I'd some major issues with it initially, and figured out, by searching on-line that, certain (Assistance and Control) Options, for this a/c, must be set differently in Xbox than all my other a/c. This has solved most of my immediate issues with it, but there are still aspects that are not working for me properly...the issue could be on my side, not sure...and for this flight, here, I could not define a Lat/Long nor a PBD custom waypoint, on its FMS, it appears there is a later update expected for this a/c, but not sure, when it will get to me on Xbox...You might get it sooner on PC...Let's keep our fingers crossed, but, I do like this aircraft a lot...

Thank you, Andy. True, this airline livery was one of my favorites in the older SIMs...and, yes, the livery has changed a few times, over the decades, as I recall...

Yes, Gerold, a very interesting mix for simmers...in the cockpit, and quite different from modern Airbus...Whenever I see the [PROF] button, as here, for vertical navigation, it reminds me of the MD-11...🙂...But I'm yet to figure out several things in its avionics which appear rather different from the Asobo/MSFS A320...

Thanks, Jan. Both A300 and A310 are kind of "chubby"...🙂...and the A310 is even shorter than the A300, from which the Beluga Whale Transporter originated...But, the A310 is a really capable freighter, good enough for FedEx to have operated 70 of those in its fleet...fun to fly too in the SIM...

And, yes, the S.A. Andes Mountains provide a great backdrop for mountain flying...
