January 26, 20242 yr I've been happily using PrD4.5 for years, with GSX and flying the Aerosoft Airbus and iFly 73NG. Then all of a sudden at the end of November 23 I started getting freezes in the bus. The 737 seemed OK but eventually I did a full uninstall and reinstall of everything and started again. I loaded up the airbus as the only addon and it seemed fine, flew from default airport, then from an addon airport. But as soon as I went from fullscreen to click on (eg) ACARS outside the Sim the bus froze (no sound, no mouseclicks worked but mousewheel did work so you could change the selected altitude but not pull or push the altitude select knob for example). Despair. Anyway I thought the iFly had been worlking OK before so went to that and lo and behold got the same problem as soon as I clicked outside fullscreen. So, as of this evening, I've got a virtually unusable sim and no idea what to do. I ask if it might be GSX because others have pointed in that direction, and it had been a thought because it demands updates all the time and I'm pretty sure I updated it just before this first occured last November. Any thoughs or advice welcome!
January 26, 20242 yr GSX is not your issue. Some things to try: 1. Validate your CPU is not throttling (cooling issue) 2. Validate your GPU is not throttling (cooling issue) 3. Run DDU and manually install the latest graphics drivers 4. From CMD (run as admin) console window execute "sfc /scannow" if error, run until errors resolved My guess is #3 above will solve it.
January 28, 20242 yr I'd also suspect a graphics issue, given that it's being triggered in proximity to a major graphics event (changing from fullscreen to windowed mode). Is your VRAM utilization near your GPU's capacity at the time of the fault? Any thoughs or advice welcome! I can affirm what Bob Scott has been saying. I was having freezes very similar to you on the PMDG 777 and P3D in general. And I thought it was GSX due to it having been updated recently. However it turned out to be a graphics driver issue. Be aware that driver issues in the graphics card (in my case) lead to high CPU activity even though I can't think of any reason why it should. So don't think the drivers are fine for the GPU just because there's CPU activity/throttling. If you want you can follow the advise in the earlier posts on this topic to check if it is GSX. All the best. Jon. Edited February 9, 20242 yr by FSXCYYZEGLL

March 13, 20242 yr Author Sure, nothing to do with GSX I think that was a coincidence. I got the solution on P3D forums eventually - there's a check box in P3D settings/General/Pause on Task Switch - if checked, it pauses the sim if you click on anything outside the P3D window! It must be defaulted to on when first installed, hence I didn't spot it after the reinstall.
