PMDG Feb 24th Update

Perhaps we should keep it on topic before it once again spirals out of control

Mathijs says they'll be demonstrating the 777 at FSWeekend March 16-17 https://fsweekend.nl/ and also talk about release strategy before or by then.. so that's a clue about how far along beta they are FWIW.

Absolutely. In fact most of this update is just to pad out the time between now and the demo at the FS weekend in March. Although they certainly do want to spend the time in between to get everything looking show ready, including the TCAS.  Imagine a 777 freeze on demo at the FS expo! It would be like a icicle to the PMDG marketing heart!

I not sure why they would be offering pricing structure and model variant releases prior to FS Weekend as Mathijs suggests. Imagine the cries of "too expensive", before we even seen the aircraft. More usual is to leave the price to last and I imagine the March show will provide PMDG with an opportunity to showcase their creation in full detail including price and variants, amongst an appreciative crowd and with plenty of FS media and associated free publicity, and potentially with a confirmed release date.

 Cheers

Terry

I hope its at least out by April 20th. https://ctp.vatsim.net

Mmm, somehow I think it will be released on 7/7. I've already set aside $77.70 for the bird😝

You might be right. It is certain to be a little more expensive than the 737 like it were in P3D. I'm still guessing early April before CTP.

I thought his follow ups were much more informative than Robert's usual mangling of the English language.

It makes its public debut in three weeks so they are obviously close to release, they are still testing features and I doubt the release price would be a subject for discussion by the PMDG team as a whole.

What's strange is after all the effort to produce their wonder tablet its gone completely quiet on that front. I was under the impression we'd be able to play Backgammon and watch pron on it by now.....

Every time I fly the FBW A320NEO I am reminded how much better the freeware one is compared to theirs.

And we all know it’s the 777-200LR with the freighter variant as well is what will release first. The one most want, the 777-300ER won’t see the light of day until a couple months post MS2024 release.

Q: Thanks for the nice weekend update....but I’m a bit disappointed that for me the most important info is still not there: which 777 variant(s) will release first? In the 737 the release strategy was announced quite early if I remember correctly
Mathijs: Not really early, actually. I do not know when RSR will share this information, but as we will demonstrate the 777 at the FSWeekend, it will for sure be before that.

The good news is, PMDG feels comfortable doing a demo of the 777 at FS Weekend, which is in 3 weeks.  So the 777 is far along enough, that PMDG doesn't mind showing how it works, and how it looks in a live stream.

The bad news is, this could also mean that PMDG may not release the 777 before FS Weekend. So the 777 could be released in April (or even May).
