Cessna 172 on the ground issue with SU15 Beta

Featured Replies

Regarding my observation on the above post, which I can no longer edit, I have to honestly bring my - very positive - experience with a few tests I performed yesterday with the new SR22, modded by ASOBO/WT for SU15 and bringing it's new and shining avionics and engine modelling uplift.

The only non satisfaction I was getting from it was the lack of proper castering nose wheel modelling, but I found at "flightsim.to" a MOD for the previous version of the SR22 that modifies a few parameters in the contact points for the wheels.

I had tried it myself, but my adjustments were not showing good results. I am glad I gave that MOD a try. Just copied the parameters they changed from the original SR22 and kept all of the new stuff WT updated untouched....

I will also try to add the C172 G1000 new ground parameters in a next series of tests BUT ! for the time being I am finally getting a very plausible behaviour of the aircraft with it's free castering nosewheel and the need to properly make use of differential brakes to control it while taxiing and / or on the initial takeoff run acceleration while the control surfaces do don't get alive, specially in the presence of x-winds !

Another note to the fact that the new weathervane parameters introduced with SU15 are apparently not being used in the C172 G1000 (?). I'm referring to:

  • ground_new_contact_model_weathervane_effect
  • ground_new_contact_model_weathervane_damping

Thank you to all for this interesting discussion.

I fly exclusively the steam gauge version of the 172 and wasn’t capable to find an official source to check if this steam gauge version will benefit from the SU15 improved flight model or if it’s reserved to the G1000. Anyone has this info sourced ? TIA.

PS: just see that weptburrito plan to release an update for the WB-SIM C172 just after the SU15 (source)
