Good day from beautiful Halifax, Nova Scotia.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on an upgraded GPU.  My question is, would it be best to wait a few months for the next best thing (which I don't even know what that is...) or, may as well get a 4090 now?

I appreciate your advice as always.

Intel i9 10900k

EVGA RTX 2070

Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1 TB

Noctua NH D15S

CORSAIR 750D High Airflow

There's *always* going to be something mo'-bigger-faster on the horizon, so by adhering to that logic you'll find yourself waiting forever.

The 4090 is a massive step up from your 2070.  I run a 4090 together with a 10900K and it performs very well in MSFS/XPlane 12.  When I built my current P3D machine (13900KS + 4090) I was so impressed with the 4090's performance I sprung for a second one and upgraded the GPU on my secondary (MSFS/XPlane) machine (from a 3090), and I have never regretted that upgrade.

You're not going to see this anytime soon fi this year. plus, with chip prices going up they will not be cheap. And Nvidia now knows whatever the price Gamers will pay to have the best.

Buy the cheapest 4090 you can find, they are all fast enough.

There is always a new generation of CPU, GPU, RAM, and motherboard on the horizon.  There is no such thing as future proofing.  Just buy they best that you can afford today with the understanding that it will soon be obsolete.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
