P3Dv3 Reinstall

Recommended Posts

I've done a complete uninstall and reinstall of P3Dv3.  I should know the answer to this question but it's escaping me.  I'm seeing wispy, cirrus like clouds on start up and I don't know how to get rid of them.  EA is turned off as is everything in weather settings.  Before the uninstall/reinstall I was getting clear skies until weather injection via ASCA/REX.  Help please, and as always, thanks!

Just a thought......but if you continue to allow ASCA/REX to do it's thing, surely it overides any cloud formations that were there before?

Have you checked that the default weather settings are at "Clear Skies" ?

Did you reinstall default cloud textures after the reinstall of V3?

I’m not sure where the specific “Clear Skies” setting is; where might it be?  And I assume the default sky textures loaded since the reinstall was done using the main application executable.

In the P3D top menu select World then Weather in weather Conditions select the desired weather , in your case Fair weather , click Save as Theme and OK....

Also most of your questions would be resolved in the Learning Center , a file in the root P3D folder called Learning Center.chm.

Ummm...say what??  P3D v3 doesn't have EA.

The clouds on startup are most likely coming from the weather in your default scenario.  Try selecting clear weather and then save that scenario out and make it your default flight.

Maybe, I'm missing something here Chuck, but if you are using a weather injection prg. what does it matter the cloud structure before injection ?

Anyway, as mentioned above, here is the screen where you can set different weather(s) but unless you select Active Sky / Rex they will not inject anything and will be ignored.

Very strange but solved.  I was at a total loss since there wasn't Vehicle, Airport, Flight Planner or Weather showing in my menu.  On a whim I ran Sim Director and then, whatcha know, they all appeared.  I changed Weather to Clear Skies and now everything is great.  But I'm wondering why the menu wasn't showing these in the first place?????

@Chuck Dreier, are you really referring to P3D v3? As Bob has said there is no EA in that 32-bit sim.

Ray, I have great respect for anything you post.  All I can say is it is Prepar3D_v3_Professional_5.3.1.7.28160.

Chuck, that’s version 5. The very fact you had an option for EA confirms it. 😉

Commonly known as 5.3HF2.

Thank you Sir!  Appreciate it.  But of course I know the difference between the versions but as I draw close to my 80th year my mind doesn’t operate like it used to. 😲
