JF 146 Professional how assign AP VS button ?

Featured Replies

Using FSUIPC I assign the VS button on the autopilot to a button on y TH Hotas throttle quadrant. It does not work. Assigning IAS to button works fine. Mouse click on the VS button work. But assigned button to AP VS ( or AP VS set) does not work. Is it not possible to assign VS to a button ?

The BAe146 is one of those 'on the edge of the new technology' aircraft and, to my knowledge, none of the variants had automated VNAV or Autothrottle capabilities.

The JF Bae146 uses LVARS for most autopilot functions. You need an app like Axis and Oh's to read these Lvars and then assign buttons or encoders to operate the various AP functions. I use the x-touch mini and its rotary encoders to change the VS when on AP.

Ah - I should always remember to engage brain before posting

Yes - you are quite right.  It's the auto-throttle part of a modern VS system that is missing.  So apologies and yes - once you are at a climb rate, you can engage VS and it should hold that, all things being equal.

Not sure about the binding - apols for the diversion 🙂

You need to set the LVar "MCP_Mode_VS_IsDown" to the value "1" to actuate this button.

This is the RPN code:
1 (>L:MCP_Mode_VS_IsDown, Number)

I am pretty sure that there is a way to do this in FSUIPC too (=assign LVar to physical buttons and pass them a value). Either directly or with a LUA script.

Yes you can hit the VS button to maintain the current VS but you can’t dial in a VS like in more modern aircraft.
