Problem after msfs Update 15

Featured Replies

After MSFS 2020 Update 15, I am unable to select OPTIONS or PROFILE in the Sim by clicking on them.  I bought a high spec pc a few weeks ago, and it was working fine until this update. Although I have been enjoying Flightsimming since my retirement  26years ago, I'm afraid I dont have tech skills, and I am at a loss to know what to do to resolve the issue. Can anyone offer some advice please? My msfs is Store version.

Hi, Andy,

Have you tried to End, Repair or Restore MSFS?

You can also try to uninstall and install again.

Greetings

Hi John,

Many thanks for your reply.

Yes I have tried to Repair, but without success I'm afraid.

This problem began as soon as the UPDATE 15 installed , and the Sim went through it's opening screen process, before opening on the Hanger The first thing that struck me was the peculiar multi coloured  livery on the aircraft. That's when I thought I would adjust settings on the Nvidia RTX4090 graphics card. However I was unable to open the Options section.   When I looked on Flight Simulator forum for some guidance, there were no posts from anyone with the same problem. I have now uninstalled/reinstalled twice, firstly onto C Drive with a 1TB SSD, then secondly onto a different drive with  2TB SSD. Unfortunately the thing takes almost a day to Download/Install with various files getting stuck during decompression. I previously had msfs operating on a Windows 10 PC, but my present one is Windows 11, which I don't expect would have any negative input.

Again, thank you very much for you help John. I'll try another reinstall.

Kind regards

Andy

Hi

I also just completed the Msfs update 15 install with some difficulty  as some files kept getting stuck decompressing but I did finally get it to complete the update and now like you no longer have my profile or options menu and the colors of my planes are messed up. The planes are pink and white checker board and the windshield is multi-color  checker board so you  are unable to fly as you cant see out of the plane. I have not tried to uninstall and reinstall the Msfs yet. Hoping to find a fix before  having to do so  Im using Windows 10pro on my pc

Hi

I am sorry you are having the same problem after the MSFS update 15. However it's something of a relief to know I'm not the the only one. I began reinstalling for the 3rd time, last night at 21:15, and after almost 12 hours the installation is 78%, but stuck on decompressing microsoft-airport-vhhx-kaitak-0.9.7.fspackage.002..I read a post somewhere, which said to delete the stuck file from the Official folder in order to overcome the decompression "stuck" issue. I did this on my second reinstallation, but I'm hesitant to do so again. Progress has now just moved to 79%!

Perhaps you would let me know if you get a fix, and  I will too of course. At least we know it's not  a Windows 10/11 or graphics card issue,

That sounds like you are trying to fly an ai plane with no livery! As you can't access content manager you can't check liveries are installed? You need at least one to fly any plane.

Just had a look on Microsoft Flight Simulator forum, Bug Reporting Hub. There are posts there reporting the same problem.

Try this, move those folders elsewhere and test if this solution works

"Well, I managed to fix the issue. I deleted folders fs-base and fs-base-ui-pages from the OneStore folder. That forced the app to re-download them and once it finished and started the game, main menu was fine"

Hi Mikael and sloppysmusic, and thank you for yreplying

My 3rd re-download has just completed, and on opening the Sim, Microsoft have just sent an update to the Sim which has resolved the problem. Normal Service Resumed!

Kind regards to all

Andy
