AIG path to long error

Featured Replies

I have been unable to get the Please select the path, where AIGAIM will place its addon-folder!

When I redirect it to move it to my D drive

It says AIGAIM-OCI will use the following directory: D:\aig-aitraffic-oci-beta

Fine I then click the OK and it tells me

Process will now start, depending on the size it might take some time!

If you want to make a backup, do it now.

Fine I then click the OK and it tells me

Unable to move directory!

Please do the following:

1)Make a backup

2)Remove your OCI package from Community etc.

I have been unable to do any of the above

Please can somebody assist !

I can't do all the troubleshooting for you but this is one piece of information that helped me. You can reconfigure windows to accept long paths, but that apparently just extends the length of file names. It doesn't allow you to use long paths with the File Explorer software built in to Windows that actually moves files from one location to another. To actually move long files, you need another utility, one that isn't limited like this. One utility is 7-Zip, which is free.

To sum it up, you can follow online directions to make Windows accept long paths, but then if you want to move a file with a long path to somewhere else, you can't use the built in File Explorer, you have to use a utility like 7-Zip.
