MCE and the PMDG 777

Featured Replies

Posting the inevitable. The SDK for the 777 will be available at release according to PMDG. Given the previous implementation with the 777 in P3D, is it right to assume it's just a matter of linking the commands to the plane?

Affirmative,

In fact the same plane we supported since FSX and we managed to get the FO to handle the ECL (selecting menu items) as well,  even though the SDK didn't give access to that device at the time.

In Prepar3D, FO lost access to ECL the workaround didn't work on that platform

That's the only unknown. I mean whether PMDG hopefully updated SDK can grant access to complete ECL control and not just selecting the main page.

Switches and dials won't be an issue.

Is it possible to say when the patch will be out?

Assuming the SDK works and leaving aside ECL on-screen manipulation (which may or not be possible), considering the FO is already 777 type rated, checklist lilkely to be the same and human recorded audio is already there, not to mention all required speech commands and flows exist, it shouldn't take too long.

So far it seems to think it's the CS 777 when I just tried it, and it wont set most things, like alt & ias etc

The patch to support the PMDG 777 isn't out yet, so it won't work.

Well I know that.

I'm just sharing with the community my first experience with it. I'm sure Gerald is on it.

We now have a Beta package for those who want to enlist a co-pilot to fly the beast as early as today.

It will require a full install.

Only open to registered Ultimate Edition users for now. 😜

Works well so far, though I am not a fan of these flows. I think I'll start making some more applicable scripts

Thanks for feedback

There is no need to make flows from scratch unless you want to build new ones to handle emergencies.

The pre-made flows by default have all actions intentionally included.(which is obviously unrealistic)

All you have to do is select a flow, inspect what it does, then simply select and remove the actions that you deem are your area of responsibility and save the flow.

That way, every user can have the perfect task sharing he wants, knowing exactly what the Fo is going to do since you call the shots. For instance, if flying as co-pilot yourself, you could do the opposite.

Turn "verbose" option OFF for "silent flow execution"

Also, if the flow trigger phrase doesn't spring to your mind naturally, rename the flow and the new name becomes the trigger sentence.

You'll see what appears like duplicates "before start flow" and "before start procedure". They do the same thing. Only purpose is to provide flexibility with speech so that you don't have to remember the exact trigger sentence. The latter can be anything you like, including "Let's fire the beast", "time to leave" or whatever.
