June 28, 20241 yr TNG = The Next Generation with Captain Jean Luc Picard (1990's). Doctor Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) was fired after Season 1 (in the show they said she was moved to Starfleet Command). Missed all of Season 2. But came back restored in S3. But she was definitely fired, not a voluntary thing. (In the show her "son" is young Wesley Crusher in the middle, she's on the left). Anybody know why management booted her off (until they were forced by popular demand to bring her back)? 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. June 28, 20241 yr Author There's hints through the Seasons that Dr. Crusher is Captain Picard's former or even present partner. And that Riker and Counselor Troi are "an item". 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. June 29, 20241 yr Allegedly....Gates McFadden was let go from The Next Generation after season 1 due to showrunner Maurice Hurley's dislike of her character and acting. Executive producer Rick Berman initially disagreed with Hurley's decision but the decision was ultimately supported by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Hurley went directly to Roddenberry and asked to have Gates let go. Berman, for whatever reason, decided not to get involved or prevent McFadden from being fired and replaced by Diana Maldaur's Dr. Pulaski in TNG season 2. But Hurley himself only lasted one season as TNG's showrunner. Rick Berman then took over running Star Trek: The Next Generation. After Hurley left at the end of TNG season 2, Berman asked McFadden to come back as Dr. Pulaski proved unpopular with fans.
