December 17, 200718 yr I have FSX with SP2 installed, but I'd like to add the planes and carriers from Accel as well as the additional scenery. I'm wondering if someone from MS knows whether installing Accel over SP2 will harm my set up? Or does the installer just ignore SP2 and install everything else?Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
December 17, 200718 yr I see very little reason to believe that there would be any harmful effects for installing Acceleration over SP2. You can, after all, install Acceleration over SP1...
December 18, 200718 yr I have not installed Acceleration or SP2, however the Readme for SP2 states the following: "If install SP2 and later purchase Flight Simulator X: Acceleration, you must uninstall SP2 before installing Acceleration." I found the Readme at http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Pages/SP2-EN-ReadMe.aspx Claude Regards, Claude Franklin
December 18, 200718 yr Aha! That tells me that the SP2 in Accel and the stand alone SP2 are not 100% identical, contrary to what has been said here. There must be some tiny differences. I may have to re-think this.Let me explain. I had Accel installed before but I had so many CTDs and problems I un-installed it, even though I loved the new aircraft and the added scenery. I was fine back at FSX-SP1. When the standalone SP2 came out, I installed it and I'm not having a lot of the problems I had before with Accel. Something is different and I'm not sure what. I guess I'll live with out the Accel package because at the moment my FSX-SP2 is relatively stable. Why mess with success?Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090

Acceleration installs a new fsx.exe core program file... that would be seen by the installer as an "older file" than the one installed by SP2... ;)It doesn't seem unreasonable that since the Acceleration installer was written before the SP2 installer, that ACES could hardly take into account that many of the files SP2 installed are - in fact - "newer" than the ones to be installed by Acceleration!
