August 22, 20241 yr Finally upgraded my case and GPU. Picked up a FormD T1 SFF case and an Asus ProArt 4080 Super. Obviously, my system is extremely bottlenecked by the 5600X CPU now, but I'm trying to hold off upgrading CPU until the 9000X3D processors are available in a few months. I'm curious if upgrading to one of the AMD X3D processors will get rid of the micro stutters, or do you folks with the 7800X3D / 4080 combo still experience them? FPS are great otherwise. Perhaps it's worth picking up a 5800X3D to replace my 5600X for the next ~6 months? Can't figure out how to insert images in the post, but feel free to check out: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/sx0pzoqab969u765k5rkb/FormD-T1-GPU.jpg?rlkey=ijcu825xhj4qqojds7vbnyy7n&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/o8tkmhj4aybbuxugfb7jm/FormD-T1-Motherboard.jpg?rlkey=12epcyn72etvgogrk4soiafnf&dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gowgeixu2enver4ly3jb1/Screenshot-2024-08-22-140309.png?rlkey=fk1hyp2sq9iaak0gxaidwuj42&dl=0 Edited August 22, 20241 yr by cmeeks meh Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
August 22, 20241 yr Not an AMD user but as I understand it the 5600X is an AM4 unit. The 9xxxX3d you are looking at is an AM5 cpu which means a new mobo, new memory, new cooler and possibly a new PSU as well. If you do decide to go AM5 then you might want to take a look at the current crop of X3D processors as the 7800X3D is a great bang for your buck unit. August 22, 20241 yr Try limiting your frames to avoid maxing out either CPU or GPU. Try setting your monitor to 60Hz and activate Vsync. You can also try Nvidia reflex to lower latency. Gsync should be enabled. With reflex on you should now be locked to 58. You can also get good use of Frame Generation and have a higher monitor refresh rate. This helps with ghosting while panning around. For this, use the monitors native high refresh rate (if yours is capable). Disable Vsync and reflex. Enable Frame Generation. Use RTSS to lock your framerate to something higher. I lock to 120fps with my monitor at 144Hz. This keeps fps in the gsync range. In RTSS, make sure you have "enable framerate limiter" on and set to "front edge sync". Make sure Gsync is enabled. I have the 5800X3D and 4080 Super and this combo is everything I dreamed of and then some! Edited August 22, 20241 yr by neumanix
August 23, 20241 yr Author I went ahead and talked myself into ordering an AM5 board, new RAM, and a 7800X3D 😁. Seemed wrong to hold my 4080 back for much longer. September 8, 20241 yr Author I've had the new computer built up for a couple weeks now and all I can say is WOW, it's so smooth! Never thought I'd see these kind of frame rates in Microsoft FS.
