Tony of FSXthrottle?

Featured Replies

In 2019 I ordered and received a very nice custom made 747 style throttle quad from a fellow in Oregon named Tony (last name fails me).  He made custom to order throttle quads as a retirement hobbie,\side job. Called his site fsxthrottle.  It has attachments to bind levers to make profile for twins as well as quads. It's true to scale with thrust reverse levers, notched flap and and spoiler levers, parking brake and gear levers as well as fuel control valve switches and a trim wheel. The throttles feel great in your hand and has functioned flawlessly. Amazing workmanship considering the entire quad is cut out of wood including the gears and bars inside. I still use my ancient CH quad for extra switches and flying lite GA singles. I also have the Thrust Master Airbus quadrant for Bus flying.

I'm just concerned for the fellow as he seems to have fallen off the radar.  He would answer any inquire in a matter of minutes but now the fsxthrottle web site is down as well as his email address. I was hoping maybe even Tony or any one who knew of him might answer. I'm just hoping he's well.

I also use an ancient CH quad for the 12 switches and six axis that it adds. It a great way to get more controls away from the keyboard. This is so much more ergonomic and makes it easier to  remember what controls all the functions (compared to flying keyboard controls). I also have a main TM throttle quad too of course, the CH quad is just for auxiliary things.

Maybe it's this guy, I don't know... throtteltek.

Also there used to be an Anthony Cervone doing mods on flight controls.

Just going to run a Chromebook and not upgrade to a Windows computer. Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱
Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!

Looks like he only offers one product now. He used to offer a 737, 747 and Airbus throttle. Maybe he’s slowing down like a lot of us.

There used to be a guy who made Franken Potato add-on for this CH Pro Throttle.

CH pro throttle comes standard with 3 pinkie buttons and another hat (index finger hat) on back of the throttle handle. Your finger draped over the handle can just wiggle to activate them.

Anyway, on the Franken model, six two way flipper buttons were added down along the bottom. These were the exact same buttons as were on the CH Throttle Quad. So, 12 buttons.

The CH Pro Throttle is the most ergonomic  throttle ever made, as all 4 hats and 3 buttons are available instantly without moving your hand. Just move your fingers while hand is still on the throttle handle with fingers draped over for the POV hat and 3 buttons in a row. And move your thumb for the other 3 hats. There was also a tiny mouse hat.

I am still here, and thank you for your kind words. I stopped producing quadrants around the time when the Honeycomb Bravo arrived to the sim scene.

Prior to the Bravo, CH and Saitek were the only low cost options. My products provided a more sophisticated quadrant at an attractive price.

When Covid hit, my supply chain became erratic and more expensive, especially shipping. I had a strong international client base, but shipping and the introduction of duties in some countries began to represent almost 40% of the total cost relative to the low volume of units that I produced. It was, after all, a hobby/business, and my profit margins were low.

It quickly became apparent that to keep this hobby viable, I would need to improve on the Bravo while keeping the pricing competitive. This meant transitioning to different materials as well as more expensive machinery.

Additionally, FS2020 told me that it would attract more makers and serious manufacturers due to the very large user base. These new comers would probably come from China and other lower cost countries.

Despite the fact that my product was sold strictly by word of mouth, I knew that without a considerable investment in machinery and time, I would die of a slow death.

So, I quietly stopped taking orders for new quadrants and closed my website.

Ironically, a former customer, an airline pilot, contacted me several months ago and begged me to make him a quadrant. I told him that I had been working on a totally new design for my sim use, all 3d printed, so that the first unit was not only rough but I would need a considerable amount of design time. He said no problem. He's in no rush.

I am, therefore, having a good time designing a fully 3d printed quadrant. When it's done, I may either sell it as an open source design, or give it away free. Not sure yet.

Tony, so great to hear you’re still at it. I was worried you might have dropped out for health reasons. You mentioned the HC Bravo. I bought my Quattro in 2019 before the bravo debuted and many times I’ve come close to ordering one even going so far to order then canceling. I just can’t justify replacing my Quattro with that big bulky bravo. The Quattro has such a realistic look and feel and your communication and support has been exceptional. Mine is mounted on a small table beside my chair where a real airliner quadrant would be.
LOL I was a little worried that COVID bug might got to you. I’m glad to hear you’re well. Hang in there.

I still have my original Quattro, the unit that inspired me to make them for others. In my old age, I am enjoying the stress free time to do some simming. Thank you again for your kind words.
