Pimax CL testing at high altitude/heavy clouds

I had a bunch of free add-ons but deleted them, don't remember why. I either ran out of disk space or had to reinstall windows. Most of the time I start out on the runway with engines running, so the whole process of downloading, organizing airports is a real pain. The default is good enough for me.

I went ahead and downloaded a half dozen airports for CALI and tested with heavy clouds. I did not experience any tracking issue. But did experience some stutters that almost felt like the HMD was about to lose tracking. Need to test again.

Some airports are better that others.  The worst area for the Longitude coming in from out the area is the Pacific North West.  Try flying into the payware CYVR (there's two payware versions) or the payware CYYJ and you should see the problem.  Not telling you to buy these but you'll see the problem if you have these locations. FSXScenery's KLAL is a pain as well in heavy clouds as another location to reproduce the problem.  That being said where I was having this more often before the above MSFS config change the problem can still present itself and for testing purposes these are the locations which has the best chance of producing the issue.😑

  • Strange, is your room well lit? I have my lighting frequency set to 'Auto'. I am not seeing any lagging or tracking issues.  I flew the CJ4 at 40K above the hurricane for an hour.

  • Hi @Dillon I've just done a flight in the PMDG Boeing 737-700 with total cloud, set at 10000 feet to 40000 feet, and flown through that from 20000 feet up to 35000 feet and back and have experien

No issues here high or low with ultra clouds pmdg 737. And no out of the cockpit experience so far 😅. A textured surrounding and good lighting could help tracking maybe? Paul

Hi Dillon,

Has the jittering issue been resolved after disabling that setting?

I just double-checked my MSFS settings, and the setting was already enabled. I ran some additional tests with both the ON and OFF settings but didn't observe any unusual tracking behavior.

Well the sim has been running great since I turned off 'Use NANOVG for XML Gauges'.  It's been so good I had a hunch and went back and checked the setting again to see if the setting was still 'Off'.  Low and behold it had defaulted back 'On'.  Now I'm totally confused.😶🫤  It looks like when I shut it off originally it cleared something up and now that it's defaulting back 'on' the issues I was having is still resolved.  I'm baffled as what happened here but as long as the headset is running as it should I'm going to leave well enough alone.🤞  Just wanted to let you know so it's something to be aware of with future troubleshooting on your end.

Possibly a server issue. I've been fooled into thinking something in the server or network side was a system problem that a setting change fixed. Now I always wait a day or two to see is a problem persists before attempting to troubleshoot it.
