FC Scenery Sale P3D!

Featured Replies

FC Scenery is now having a "Black Friday" sale with a bunch of it's scenery on sale right now including scenery for U.S., Canada, Europe and more.   For those that don't know, FC Scenery makes VFR scenery (photoscenery with custom autogen) for large parts of the world.  Their scenery is pretty good quality and I have to admit it's a nice change from the usual Orbx landclass scenery.

They do have a strange purchase process that can be confusing if you never bought from them before.  They use PayPal donations (probably to avoid taxes wherever they live).  You make a donation or donations for the price of the scenery you want and send them the PayPal receipt as an attachment in email to: [email protected].  Make sure to specify in email which sceneries you want for the money you paid.  Then usually within a day or so they will send you download links for the scenery you bought.

If you want your scenery faster, they suggest also taking screenshots of your Paypal purchases in the web browsers because it takes time before PayPal donations get through to them.  Send these pics with your email as well.

The one scenery I bought from FC Scenery was my home state of South Carolina and I was impressed with the quality, texture and autogen. My problem with the site is that you have to buy ("donate" the prescribed amount) before you can even look at some screen shots of the product. I just don't like to pay first to see what I get.

I have different sceneries from all over the world from FC Scenery and I can tell you the quality is pretty high for all the scenery I own.  Although, one thing I do notice with there scenery is autogen coverage is a little better with some sceneries than others.  I can honestly say though that there is not once scenery I purchased from them that I was disappointed with.

Great sceneries, autogen is lacking in some of the provinces/states.    I keep pressing the developer, but so far NO winter textures.

Yeah, the only major downside of FC Scenery is no winter textures, I'm sure they decided against adding them to the scenery is because the size of the sceneries are already huge.  I have Alaska and it's almost 300Gb in size.  With winter textures the size of the scenery would be massive.

I also agree that more autogen should be added for some of the sceneries.  They told me they add around 80% autogen coverage but some sceneries feel less than that and there's others that feel more than that.  I don't know why they can't do 100% coverage for all sceneries, especially for the normal prices they charge.

Like I said though, it depends on the scenery you buy, some have more autogen than others.  I have a couple sceneries that stated in the download page that they will be coming out with a new and improved version.  So they do seem to eventually improve their sceneries that are lacking.

Just to correct and clarify a statement I made regarding the autogen, reading through some of the Readme files that came with some of the scenery I have purchased, some have autogen coverage as low as 50%, like some of the U.S. states for example but other scenery goes as high as 80% coverage like Alaska or Brazil to name a couple.

The developer has told me that indeed they are working on adding more autogen to a lot of their scenery with low autogen coverage right now and some already have big autogen updates.  They told me to keep checking back for more autogen updates in the near future.

It seems they are always continuously updating and improving their scenery, autogen coverage as well as fixing any clouds they missed, etc.

BTW the sale continues until the end of November.
