Video that will help identify alert sounds in the PMDG 737?

Featured Replies

I'm hearing a sound that I can't id.  I'm wondering if it's my hardware or software or something else (a driver perhaps).

Is there a resource or a link for this video?  Thank you.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

Still no replies?

Ok, does anyone know where the sound files are located in MSFS or PMDG?

File type eg. *.wav?

Explain the sound to us.

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

(Exaggerating only slightly...) The 737 has only one alert sound anyway, so you're either looking at a takeoff config alert or cabin altitude alert. 😉

I found a nice video that shows the various non-verbal warning sounds on the 737:

  • Autopilot disconnect
  • Overspeed "clacker"
  • Fire warning bell
  • Takeoff config warning (same sound is used for the cabin altitude warning)

So I would assume it's one of these.

Hmmm.... I can't.  Like I can't explain color since I am partially color blind, and I've also never been in a real flightdeck.

This was very helpful. Thank you!  No, it's not one of those. The sound first came up when I was using PMDG (wishing I recorded it).  It's intermittent. I'll eventually id the culprit after a process of elimination.

There’s a small amount of horns or sounds in the 73.

was it the fire bell? That would be the only sound associated with a color. It shouldn’t be intermittent.

does the sound come on when your powering down the jet? Or when only the battery is powering the airplane? High low bell sound? Could be the IRS on dc power only alarm.

is it a horn that constantly beeps at you? That could be the takeoff configuration warning horn or the alt cabin horn.

OP has already confirmed it's not one of these (see their response to the video I posted above, which includes these sounds).

To the OP, can you describe what the sound is like and when it occurs?

I found the culprit. It was the mouse (old Microsoft mouse). First one ever for me. Replacing the mouse fixed the problem. Thank you all.

No, it was not like that. I'm tempted to plug in the misbehaving mice and record the sound, but it's fixed and a rare occurrence so there wouldn't be much point to the exercise. Thanks for asking though.
