Aircraft deletion mistake

That's quite odd.  I've modified TDS models and had this happen, but then just reverted to the original model and the wings reappeared.

I don't use TDS any more as their models' attached lights don't work right and I can't change them.  I posted on their facebook page a while back and asked them to remove the landing and taxi lights from their models - the reply was not friendly, and they refused.

It's a shame as the models are very nice.

Dave

Which is the ORIGINAL MODEL?  Perhaps if I find that one, I could get the others to work too.

Appreciate it if you remember.

After trying everything I've researched regarding a TDS model plane, I have been unsuccessful in downloading just ONE TDS Boeing 737 or 757 that has 2 complete WINGS! Every one on Simviation or anywhere else produces 2 half wings on each plane. I'm convinced that some thing is missing in my P3d folder that should be there.  I'm sure any one of you could download a TDS plane and it would be complete.

I would ask again, if anyone can tell me how to get a complete TDS plane downloaded.  I'm on the TDS forum, but no one replies.  You would thing someone at TDS would try to assist a user of their product.

Thanks.

Without knowing what kind of file structure you have for P3D and without knowing exactly what you did with the deletions, it is impossible to suggest a remedy.

Like I said, I don't use TDS planes any more.  The developers just don't care about users having problems with their models.

You can find Project Opensky models for most types of aircraft which work fine in P3D, but you'll need the ones that have been converted to FSX models.

Thanks.  I tried it and still have the infamous "half-wing" 737's.  So, it must not be TDS. It's something that I deleted when cleaning out what I thought were excess planes in my P3d sim.  I'll probably never find out which file was the culprit.

Appreciate it anyway.

I actually was able to fly a 737 TDS model that I had SAVED in my P3d sim.  It had full wings and flew great.  However , I cannot still download a new one.  Interesting.  All saved flights in P3d still have what's necessary to produce a full plane.

How about comparing the flight files of one working and the one not working. I use a program called Beyond Compare which is free for a certain amount of comparisons. I bought it then later, since it is great to compare directories and files. The flight files are readable with an editor like Notepad, Notepad+ too. But it's easier to find the differences in files with Beyond Compare.

Sounds like a good idea.  However, the 737-800 that is saved in P3d doesn't appear in my Airplanes folder.  That's weird but true.  This problem all has to do with a "copyright" line in the config which TDS claims is the only way for the missing wings to occur.  I never deleted a copyright line, but this whole problem is more complicated than it should be.  I'm just going to use Posky for my 737s.  Also, TDS doesn't respond to emails and there is no way to seemingly get support.

I've got some updates coming out soon for my modified 737s including the Max.  I'll also be releasing a 767-400.

We're very lucky that some dedicated folks created these models years ago and that we can still enjoy them today.

Last week, I decided to get rid of the planes I was not using in my Simobjects/airplane folder.  I really deleted many of them that just were downloaded (all free ones) because they looked interesting, but remained UNUSED. Using P3dv5.4.

Anyway, I notice that many 737's (Legacy) in my sim now have HALF WINGS!  Obviously, I deleted a file that affects the wings on many of my 737's.  Would anyone have an idea which file I inadvertently deleted?  It's too late anyway because I emptied my recycle bin.  Just curious if there's some way I could acquire that file.

Some news on this issue. Found this file on Flightsim.com. Looks like this is a problem TDS knows about it too.

Yes.  I got an email today from Hiroshi Igami, the developer of these TDS aircraft.  I emailed him about it about 2 weeks ago.  He did indeed get back to me and he was distressed over what Windows did. He also said that you have to regress to the update before this one...23h2.  I really don't know how to do that and I'm kind of afraid to delete the latest Windows updates and revert to the update before November 9th, I believe.

I'll just deal with it until Windows fixes it, and if they don't, I'm not going to worry about it.  I did love flying some of those TDS planes though.  Lots of great liveries.

As far as MS Windows is concerned, It`s upto third party's to keep their software updated to the latest version.

The real kicker is that this whole problem with TDS relates to their copy protection.

I understand that a model creator wants to be given credit for their work, but this isn't payware and there many freeware planes using TDS models.

It just isn't necessary and creates more problems, like the inability to remove the incorporated landing and taxi lights which blast the VC with bright light when you turn them on at night.

Also found out today that you can't GO BACK to 23h2 if you've upgraded to 24h2 if you've had 24h2 for longer than 10 days.  That was the only way to go back to the Windows version that worked with TDS.  23h2 is "greyed out" in System/Recovery/Go Back screen.
