MSFS Scenery convert for P3D

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I’m trying to find out or someone to help me for scenery conversion. (If possible).

MSFS to P3D

Anyone here knows how?

thanks to all

Which version of P3D?  Later versions of P3D added additional texture compression support that is commonly found in MSFS to support HDR.

Best place to ask would be on ORBX forums or FSDeveloper forum.  ORBX have done A LOT of P3D to MSFS which means they know how to go from MSFS to P3D.

I want MSFS for P3D 5.3

I will check how to do so. Thanks

Have any of you read the posts in the MSFS forum recently. It's an insult swapping blood bath.

P3D v5.3 has PBR support but I believe P3D V6+ supports HDR texture compress such as BC7 and BC6H per sdk here.  MSFS supports these compression formats also, but not required.

Not sure what that has to do with this thread, but that seems "normal" for MSFS forums (or any forum for that matter).  I'm frankly amazed at what customers will endure from software that hasn't gone thru a proper testing cycle ... but "testing cycles" are expensive both in time and money so let paying customers be the testers ... it's sadly a common situation with software development these days (coming from a software engineer/manager covering the past 38 years).

The funding concept is do it by XYZ date and fail or release late and succeed ... the latter option is a philosophy that project funders never seem to be able to accept so we just repeat and rinse the same release it now, fix it later if anyone is still interested approach to deployment.

Thank you very much, but I am not familiar with the P3d SDK.

I was looking for someone willing to help me convert a scenery...

A very talented engineer is Arno Gerretsen (Netherlands Aerospace) has done considerable work in scenery conversions and other useful tools for FSX/P3D/MSFS.  He is/was present on FS Developer website here.  Unfortunately he may have stopped doing work on any public flight simulators and moved on/out (as have many of us).

The point of my post, don`t confuse FSX with the new MSFS. Remember MS dumped flight sim and gave it to the community it became freeware. That`s not the case with MSFS Aosbo who retain the copyright. Using the development tools you can crate product for MSFS. But not use any part of the product for a competing product.

I'm not a lawyer, but in most cases it would be illegal to convert a payware MSFS scenery to P3D and then try to sell it for P3D.  Of course what is "illegal" doesn't always seem to be enforced or applied globally.

But be warned, there are definitely some "issues" with MSFS 2024 scenery development, much got broken and restricted or forced into compatibility mode.  It's a mess that Asobo have created (perhaps with intent to prevent reverse engineering of scenery as most of what they do is entirely money driven):

That's not what they did.
