I fly MSFS. My current system is pretty low-end, it gives me 40-55 fps at altitude, but it stutters badly with either big airports, or heavy clouds, or more than about 10 injected aircraft. (Put all three of those things together and it's a slideshow.)

So I've been flying in and out of smaller airports exclusively, which has been fine, but I was thinking it's time to upgrade.

What do you think about a system built around an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and a GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER?

Thanks.

Is your PC a gaming/simming-only machine, or do you also use it for some heavier productivity work (video editing, etc.)? For a mix of productivity/gaming, the 7950X3D is the best option you can get at the moment, but for a dedicated flight sim rig, the 9800X3D may be a better choice. You can find a lot of benchmarks on the web, here's one I've found rather reliable (the review is in Polish, but the graphs are pretty self-explanatory).

The 4080 Super should be absolutely fine, too 😉

Maybe wait and see what the 5 series cards offer? Launch shouldn't be too far off.

Im running a 7950X3D and 4090. Before the 4090 I had a 4070ti and to be honest I don't really see much differance between the cards in MSFS2020 or 2024. I kinda regret getting the 4090 as it was double the price of that 4070ti. So I would suggest the 4070ti

That’s helpful, thanks.

Its also important to go with 64GB of system memory. My PC uses around 40+GB of memory during gameplay in FS2024.

As long as you are Main Thread limited, you won't notice any difference with a better graphics card other than more VRAM.
