@AzureFire, this pinned topic might help. https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/609730-dxgi_error_device_hung-solution/

  • Okay, then it might not be driver specific. I'm gonna test more. Until then, lets hope the next driver will fix the issue. 566.36 came out on the 5th of December so the next one should come soon. Wh

That I never had before. When I get simple CTDs, its usually terrain.dll or ntdll.dll. Those usually happen because of faulty terrain generation or a faulty add-on. You should try flying out of a different airport with different aircraft. Maybe one of your add-ons is making the error.

I haven’t been able to prove it definitively, but I think FSHUD may be the culprit.

I did complete a flight in the fslabs in Europe without any issues, except I was getting some freezes with fshud.  After I shut that down, problem went away.

more testing needed at this point though.

Well bad news.  I completed a flight and all went well.  After shutdown at the gate, I switched windows to chrome and then got the device hung error in P3d.  Was at mk studios ehfk in the fslabs a321.

I don’t understand why this is happening all of a sudden….

Sorry about it, this is frustrating. I did a test flight yesterday (around LGKR with Flytampa scenery and M. Jahns C-47) and today (from ESSA to EVRA with ORBX and Justsim sceneries and Qualitywings 757) and didn't have issues. Although I do have to admit, there was a significant FPS drop soon after departing ESSA as I was flying above the islands. I've seen this FPS drop in the same area before, but I don't think its related to our crashes. Its more likely because of all the small islands that the sim has to load.

I did a couple things before these flights which I suggest you try too:
- Reinstall the driver in Geforce Experience. I did this after the 3rd crash and while I don't want to jinx it, I experienced no crashes after that. Maybe the driver got corrupted and stayed corrupted after you updated it. A reinstall might help.
- Reduce your settings. Maybe you are putting too much strain on your system.

I have MK Helsinki but I didn't go there in a long time. I know its resource hungry though. I may do some test flights around the area to see what I get.

Have you tried using DDU to uninstall the old driver and install the new one? You don’t need all the tripe that accompanies the Nvidia install package.

I have not tried DDU yet.  I have, however, disabled all addon shaders and flushed the shader cache to revert back to stock shaders and will do more testing this weekend.

Usually when something like this happens, I'd trace my steps and check what recent changes I've made to the sim or new addons installed that could be causing the issue.  However, I hadn't touched p3d in probably a month, and when I came back to it, these device hung errors started.  Nothing has changed within my sim or on my rig that I am aware of, except Windows 11 updates.

I never had another DXGI problem after using DDU. To much of a coincidence. 😉

@okupton Any news?
@Ray Proudfoot no, not yet. I'll give it a shot though.

I’ve completed two flights today without issues.  Haven’t done anything new apart from clearing shader cache and removing envplus shaders.  But because the error is so inconsistent, I’m not going to say my issues are fixed just yet.

I did rule out fshud and active sky as being the culprits and do not think it is any specific addon plane because I’ve had it happen with different ones.

testing will continue and I’ll report back after more flights this week.

two more flights and 0 issues.  So guessing this was shader related.

do you have any addon shaders or reshade installed?

Orman

In P3D the number one issue is shaders, problem loading or crash problem delete the shader folder and let it re-build first next repair the P3D install. Before you start looking elsewhere.

I use Envshade (but not Envplus). Been using it for a while now. To be fair, I didn't encounter crashes recently either, my past 5 test flights were successful. I'll report back if something happens.

Just had the DXGI error again while on the ground and minimizing P3d to dispatch my flight in simbrief...
