SPAD.next question(s)

Hello,

not sure whether this is a correct forum... but since I am in a trial with SPAD, I can't go to discord, so I might as well try here.

I get the thing with profiles, that is similar how I was always working with FSUIPC for instance.

But... let's say I am further down the road, have like 10 profiles for different aircraft, and now I got the idea to have on pushbutton do a new function over all my profiles.

Can I do that some other way except copying the button from profile to profile?

I may be wrong but I don't believe you can. I think you would have to copy the new button assignment to each profile. You can do so much with SPAD, for instance when I load into the Fenix A320 I press the HDG button on my Bravo throttle (I don't use this button as I have a MiniFCU) SPAD then runs a series of events .... Battery 1 & 2 on, External Power On, ADIRS aligned, VOR switches on EFIS panel on. This is all done using LVAR's. Once I am ready to go I have another button that turns on the fuel pumps, Seatbelt signs and then starts the APU.

Once you get used to programming SPAD using LVAR's you can create ton's of actions to button presses.

A marginally faster way to copy that button is to:

  1. Program the button in one profile so that it does what you want.
  2. Upload the program for that button as an "online snippet".
  3. Switch to the next profile.
  4. Select the button you want to program and  click the "Online Snippet" button.
  5. Select your uploaded snippet from the list of available snippets.

It's time consuming but a bit faster than copying and pasting as you don't have to keep switching back and forth between each profile.

Well poo. I really hoped there were a system I was missing...

Poorly implemented if you ask me, because that "feature" I already had with FSUIPC... ehhh, what... 15 years ago, at least? It's also what MS managed to implement.

I understand the advantages and the programmability of SPAD in general (yes, I have already managed and understood how to read LVARs and then program them into joystick buttons, works cool), but I really want to set some general stuff via one default for all aircraft and then specific ones per aircraft.

I am seriously having hard time explaining myself paying €90 missing that. Will have to think hard.

I don't know man.  FSUIPC was great back in the day, but it never came anywhere near to the functionality spad has.

5800X3D, 4090FE, 64GB DDR4 3600C16, Gigabyte X570S MB, EVO 970 M.2's, Alienware 3821DW  and 2  22" monitors, Corsair RM1000x PSU,  360MM MSI MEG, MFG Crosswind, T16000M Stick, Boeing TCA Yoke/Throttle, Skalarki MCDU and FCU, Logitech Radio Panel/Switch Panel, Spad.Next

Since using spad.next I can't imagine not using it anymore as having the ability to map all controls is imo a must have.
I certainly understand where you are coming from here as a general profile would be nice I suppose, I've kinda done that by mapping basic stuff in a default profile and copy to another profile and adjust from there.
Copy/paste could certainly be improved, I wish it had a copy to profile option which would make things a lot easier as well not having to activate one profile, copy, switch profile, paste which can get tedious at times.  I guess you could map generic/basic defaults in msfs itself still and effectively use both but the built in msfs controls system is something I prefer not to use at all.
Finding the right lvar is probably the most painful thing at times as those can be poorly documented and you end up jumping through a lot of hoops sometimes to find the right function but once setup it's very nice to have everything mapped.  Their discord is helpful but some of their support staff can use some work on their bedside manner admittedly.

Imo the benefits it offers outweigh its shortcomings.

No no, didn't want to imply SPAD is bad. Just that FSUIPC (and MSFS today too) has this one to me seemingly trivial feature of differentiating between global and local aircraft profiles.
