Florida GA Enhancements Plug

Featured Replies

Hi folks. I am here plugging my latest freeware release:  2IS Airglades Airport

As I fly more in 2024 and keep exploring, I find myself increasingly tinkering and enhancing cool little GA airports I am finding. I only use default objects to enhance the airports, which means that I am not trying to recreate any airport with 100% fidelity. I just simply want it to look "pretty darn close" to a picture or Google Maps when I go check them out. Eventually, I guess I will have to learn Blender if I want to start creating custom hangars and buildings, etc. But for now, this is all my time allows.

If you like Florida, here are the rest of my GA enhancements:

KSUA - Witham Field
KPHK - Palm Beach County Glades

and the Florida Water Fixes

Edited by salasnet

These look very good! Do the water fixes work in photogrammetry areas as well?

The water fixes all work with photogrammetry, as I always have it turned on. Most of South Florida has pretty good photogrammetry, so I created them using that turned on.

I can only be a supporter of your work based on stocked object. I feel less alone. I'm also a Padawan in this area.

The need to "learn" Blender (and also a little of GIMP) will be driven, not first to build your own custom building, but first could be to add the custom-touch like a hangar sign, taxi specific sign (like the Fly Quiet) or any decal on ground that will create the "oh, I've never seen this before and it's look dedicated to THIS airport". That's my aim in my creation process of little airport GA. May I add one thing: put anything in your scenery that will block the view of a pilot seated in his plane. There's nothing worse than seeing the horizon, from the ground, on the sim. In reality, there's always something blocking the view or catching your attention : a fence, a hangar, a gate, a static plane, a cone (or anything with "construction" in the MSFS object name).

Most of the time, when flying randomly, I'm scared to land in an airport 100% generic. It's a killer in the immersion.

Thank you for your Florida quest 😉 It's an area I will discover with your GA freeware.

Vincent, I am a huge fan of your work and have downloaded all of your airports. I only fly in California because of your addons. Your focus on cool little airports and making them look fantastic has been the motivator for my also wanting to do the same to some in Florida and actually getting around to preparing them for release. I am limited by my abilities at the moment, of course, but you are the gold standard I would like my little enhancements to strive to one day.
