February 6, 20251 yr Yes those South Pacific Winds are relentless, and when they hit the Andes it is like placing large rocks in a stream, it speeds through the passes Same where I live in Wellington the wind is channeled through the Cook Straight, which is why we have a reputation for wind as well Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
February 6, 20251 yr I've done four times #2 in the list (COR-SCL and viceversa). I guess I've been fortunate, because I never felt any abnormal shaking at all. Anyway, the mountain stages are precisely during departure and arrival: while SCEL has the Andes, we have the Sierras just west of Córdoba airport (which clearly influences the results, but it's not mentioned in the article). Between both mountain ranges, there's nothing but flatness. Only once I had a slightly bumpy approach into one of the airports in the list: Bariloche (my GF disagrees with the "slightly" part). Shouldn't any flight crossing the ITCZ be in this list? I've read the turbulence there is wilder.
