February 11, 20251 yr I'm branching out a little today with a flight from Kenora, Ontario to Waterloo, Ontario Canada. We're in the dead of winter up here and it's nice to see some snow pics once in a while. CYQK is freeware on flightsim.to and I just picked up Astrailis Studio's CYKF for around 15 USD. The paint is payware quality from master painter TimHH. Our routing today is CYQK AGLIN KENPA CYKF at FL410. We've got a monster tailwind in the LJ35 so we'll do about 530 knots over the ground - the flight is shy of three hours from ramp to ramp. Please Enjoy! We're fairly light and easily up and away as we bank left and turn SE towards AGLIN. Kenora sits on the north side of Lake of the Woods (which shares waters with Minnesota). Kenora is about 110 miles east of Winnipeg Manitoba. Looking south towards MN you'd find cities such as Warroad (RRT), Baudette (BDE), International Falls (INL) The Lear screams upwards towards FL410! The air is extremely cold but it's still a beautiful sight. Lake of the Woods contains over 14,500 islands and has around 65,000 miles of shoreline! This is a cool area - I'm leaving Canadian airspace for US airspace, I'm also flying over the border between Thunder Bay ON and Minnesota USA. Ahead is also Lake Superior and Isle Royale (which technically belongs to Michigan). CYQT lower left of frame Isle Royale is about 45 mi long and is a superb place to visit by boat Some breaks in the clouds reveals the northern tip of Houghton, MI (CMX) This routing takes me over the Alpena Complex - sometimes the airspace is "hot" with military aircraft from the surface to FL 510! It's "cold" today so we can fly through it. Passing the U.P. of Michigan (places like Manistique (ISQ), Newberry (ERY), Mackinac Island (MCD) and Sault Ste Marie (pronounced Soo Saint Marie) Canada CYAM Looking ENE towards Drummond Island, Manitoulin We're feet dry again over home sweet home - we've begun descent and will fly the RNAV 26 via MAPEM - they'll be some snow showers in the area Into the soup! Out of the bases - the world isn't always sunshine and unicorns! The Waterloo district is about 40 miles southwest of Toronto. CYKF is served by Air Canada, Flair, Sunwing and WestJet - and home to many private aircraft - with ample parking spaces. February 12, 20251 yr Ryan, that is a Lear 35? It's weird to see this kind of aircraft after two fatal incidents in the past two weeks—otherwise, a great pictorial. Darryl Edited February 12, 20251 yr by SP2472
February 12, 20251 yr Author Yep it's the FSW Lear 35 - a pretty good addon! Fairly quick and climbs like a homesick angel. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
February 15, 20251 yr Lovely series and tour notes, Ryan...You're featuring the western part of the Great Lakes that I've not had much exposure in RW...I am somewhat familiar with the eastern side of this Great North.... BTW, around here today, it looks like the Great White North too...with several inches of fresh snow overnight...🙂...
