P3D v5.4 files in P3D v6

Featured Replies

I have tried v6 and really like it except for one thing. I live and fly out of KIND and all of scenery in Central Indiana is really messed up. Eagle Creek reservoir is missing and there are GIANT lakes south of Indianapolis that don't exist. I have to use ORBX Vector ( with it's attendant frame rate penalty.)

V5.4 is fine. I reported the issue to LM but there was no response.

I was wondering if the appropriate offending scenery files in v6 could be replaced with their counterparts from v54.

If so, how do I determine which files to replace?

If you want to use ORBX vector in V6, I created a fix for ORBX vector for P3DV5. It improves performance and loading times. ORBX vector works ok in P3DV6 and my fix also works ok. The fix is available in the link below.

Here is a more detailed answer to your question. If you want to use the vector files from P3DV5 you can try these two files. Scenery folder 0302 scenery files CVX2417 and CVX2517.  CVX2417 covers the Eagle Creek reservoir, and it does show up using TMFViewer.  CVX2517 covers the area with the large non-existent lakes. They are there in the P3DV5 file as well when I check them in TMFviewer. How to determine what files will work for your area? I use LittleNavMap. Select a nearby airport, in the overview section scroll down to Data Source.  This will tell you the scenery folder which is 0302 for KIND and APX24170.  THe CVXxxxx files contain the vector data, in this case CVX2417.  I would recommend that you try using TMFViewer in the SDK.  You can view the CVX files with TMFViewer.

Thank you for the help. I tried the first option and it didn't work . (perhaps I didn't do it right)

Tried the second option and am pleased with the result.

Thank you again.

You might want to try FCScenery indirect purchase and the developer will email dwnload link. I believe that took care of Indiana.  At least check it out
