Status of FSS 727-200F in MSFS2024?

Featured Replies

This looks like a real beauty, and I’d love a nice re-creation of the very first airliner I ever flew on (Northwest 727, boarded via those ventral stairs back in 1979!).

Is it more or less functional in 2024, and flyable, or does it have some serious issues (until they update it at least)?

How does it impact CPU load/FPS vs. default airliners?

thanks….

Glad it works for you. I always get wasm error.

The experimental MSFS 2024 version works as well as FSS say it does, for me.
At a guess, I have flown it for perhaps 30 hours in total without any problems.
However, FSS have themselves posted this, please read it carefully.

We've received a large number of requests from users who are unable to access the MSFS 2024 download channel or aircraft. This is likely because you haven't registered your product to gain access to the 727's specific channels, including the download channel.
To register your copy of the 727, please visit welcome-info.
You MUST activate your copy of the 727 in MSFS 2020 before you can register the product or download the MSFS 2024 version.
As a reminder, the 727 is still an MSFS 2020 product, and the MSFS 2024 version is solely experimental. DO NOT purchase the 727 if you do not have a copy of MSFS 2020, as you will not be able to activate your product. This may change in the future if we release a full release version of the 727 for MSFS 2024.

Of note: If you're unable to register your product via the bot, we can register it manually to get you access to the download. However, we can only do so if you have activated in MSFS 2020 already - if not, the aircraft will not function in MSFS 2024 anyway.

To clarify -
Product ACTIVATION must be done in MSFS 2020, and is what allows the aircraft to function in either simulator, as well as allowing you to complete registration.
Product REGISTRATION is done on Discord, and is what allows you to access the 727's product-specific channels, as well as the download channel. You will not be able to register your product if you have not already completed activation.

Thanks,
The FSS Team

In a nutshell, if you don't have MSFS (2020) installed and working, you will not be able to use the 727 in MSFS 2024,
so do not buy it if that applies to you.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone!

I own a license to MSFS 2020 but sadly uninstalled it  - so I think I'll just wait for FSS to update their 727 to MSFS 2024 and THEN buy it (and the passenger version too, of course).

This is interesting. I have been flying the FSS B727-200RE [Freight Super27 version] in MSFS 2024, do not have MSFS2020 loaded, & the FPS is having the s-- kicked out of it compared say to a PMDG 737-800.

So it does go some way to explaining the struggling FPS.

@Treetops45 - I don’t have the freighter or advanced, but I do have the 2024 version installed off of Contrail and it is by far the smoothest running airliner I have - smooth as silk - same or feels maybe even smoother than the PMDG 737 or JustFlight F28 on my modest 10900K 3060 rig - perhaps do a clean install off of Contrail?

OR perhaps the “advanced” has different gauges with refresh rates or something causing the issue?

Curious if you still have fs2020 installed?

What I can do & haven't done yet is fly the B727-200F, [non Super], version in MSFS2024 & see how that goes. The Super 27 flies ok, I just happened to check the FPS in Developer Mode & there was a lot of red, FPS about 50, whereas the PMDG 737-800 runs around 80 FPS , all green. I will also look at a reinstall.

I don't - just MSFS2024, I uninstalled MSFS2020 at some point.

I have just flown a short flight out of Barcelona in the 727-200F, [not Super27], & FPS was around 70 & all the drop down stuff was green, so I will have another look at the Super27.

But where I am struggling is with the Autopilot & in particular, getting the aircraft to follow the the LNAV Flight Plan magenta line. I used the GNSXLS & entered a flight plan, then from instructions I found on line I set the CDI to GPS, intercepted the magenta line using HDG, then set NAV/LOC on the NAV selector dial below the throttle quadrant. However, she just over flew the line & kept following HDG, [which I had turned of as the magenta line was breached].

So, am I missing a step somewhere?
